Hi,
Just bought a 1998 land rover discovery LSE, the dash lights and tail lights are not working. Am assuming it's a fuse but I can't seem to locate where it is. Any help will be very much appreciated.

The dash and tail lights are controled by the first "click" of the headlight switch found on the turn signal arm.
If the fuses are good, then your turn signal arm has failed.
First click is running lights (dash and outside marker lights), second is headlights.
The 1st position of the 2 position switch has contacts internally that have worn and no longer complete the circuit.
Replace the turn signal arm.

My 2006 Chevy Impala is stuck in park. The gear shift is located between then seats and the button that must be pressed in to move the gear shift cannot be pressed in. We have tried pressing the brake, applying and releasing the parking brake, etc. We also turning the car to accessory but the car would still not shift out of park. Any ideas?
When you turn ignition on it releases a cable that is attached to the shifter also the shifter has a solenoid attached to it that is released when you step on the brake. Both times that I had the problem of button stuck and cant shift out of park the solenoid was sticking and wouldnt release .

Disco has been sitting in my drive way for about 8 months. recently I replaced alternator, starter, battery (700 cca), and fuel pump. when i turn the ignition key, starter click for a half second & click again 2 or 3 second later in repeated cycle. any help is appreciated. thank you.
I just expiriance the same problems on my rover so i check it out and found that the engine spark fuse was out. I replaced the said fuse and their you go it started. You can find that fuse under the dashboard in the satellite 1 fuse box. it should be the 3rd one from the right. Good luck buddy hope that helps you out.

my 1998 landrover discovery will not start but the battery is good. when you turn the key it makes a clicking noise. I want to change the starter but am making sure it is the starter and how could you tell if it is. Thank you.
This usually is the starter, especially if your truck has had an oil leak going for a while as the oil will run down into the starter and cause it to intermittenly fail. Also check your battery terminals and make sure you have a good connectivity.

Hi Everyone. Can anyone help with this problem.? My 1994 Discovery TDI300 has developed an alarming problem, at around 60+ mph if a small bump is hit it sends a massive shudder through the vehicle. It is so bad you have to nearly stop, then increase your speed again. This rarely happens below 50mph, although it can still send a shudder through the steering wheel. I took it to my local independent LandRover garage, where it frightened them half to death. They checked the steering box, damper, suspension, bushes, bearings, wheels, tyres, and propshafts they can find nothing wrong at all and are completely mystified. Its due to go back in next week for another look, meanwhile if anyone has experienced anything like this, or has any ideas, your input would be gratefully appreciated. Thanking you in advance Regards Bob I have the same problem with a 1998 Discovery 300TDI, it is not caused by the following: Tyres, Wheels, Wheel Balancing, Dampers (Shock absorber) front or rear, Wheel bearings, Steering Box, Steering Ball joints, Steering Damper, Any rubber suspension bushes. How do I know? I have changed all of the above in my quest to rectify this problem and all to no avail. The problem is no better at all. This has cost me a small fortune, and I will never buy another Land Rover, I also recommend to my friends and family never to buy one. I have read all sorts on the internet to do with this problem and none of the information has come close to resolving it. I can only imagine it is a fault with the steering geometry that causes a resonance in the suspension at certain speeds when the wheel impacts a bump. Maybe changing springs would resolve it? It is not simple vibration but is extreme resonance of the what appears to be the whole front axle. It starts at about 100km if you hit a bump (although strangely not all the time) and feels like the front axle is going to be torn off if you do not slow down. It has scared my wife half to death and she is no longer happy to drive the car. I am an engineer and have worked on cars for 30yrs and have never come across anything like this. I just can not find anything wrong, so I am stuck with a poor design problem I think! I am sure Land Rover know the answer but do not wish to inform the public as with the Gearbox/Transfer box splined shaft problem and other issues with these cars. Please let me know the fix if you find one.
Wow. I have the EXACT same problem on a nissan Patrol. I've always had some trouble trying to descibe it online, because the car actually shakes violently, all over, in an increasing manner, and the only possible reaction is to hit the brakes hard! I have also replaced many parts in quest of the damaged piece, with no luck. Also managed to baffle a whole lot of mechanics here in Portugal. Mine acts up at 90 km/h, anything below that is fine. I changed the tires to heavier ones and the problem got soothed a bit, but still happens once in a while. I've been told it's a very common problem with old Nissan Patrol, and I've had several friends reporting the same thing. This is the first time I've ever heard of it happenning to a land rover.
Although I don't have a direct solution for you, (and I gave up trying to find out what was wrong with mine a few years ago - cause this keeps me below 90 km/h, witch is good, now I just cruise around, no hurry) I offer you the comfort of knowing you're not the only one :) and I would suggest you search in Nissan Patrol forums, because it happens more often with their models from '90 to 96. (search for Nissan patrol 2.8 turbo)

Old spark-plug wires were removed from plug & distributor cap and sequence was not noted & therfore do not know the numbering and sequence in which to put this in the correct way PLEEZE HELP ASAP
Firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 Cylinder numbers looking at engine from front Left Bank 1-3-5-7 Right bank 2-4-6-8 Distributor has clockwide rotation,

I have read several of these posts as well as the Hanes amnula on a 1997 Land rover
every one claims the switch is some where else rear tail light , under passsengers dash under the hood .
can some one with real Land rover knowledge tell me where the relay swith for the fuel pump is.
I found the shut off under the hood by the windshiel washer resivor.

There is a safety switch that can be reset under the hood on the passenger side under the fuse box panel.

Car worked fine last night, parked in my garage, this morning when trying to leave to go to work started car and can't get the gear shift that is between the seats to move out of park. The button on the gear shift won't press in to make it able to move the gear shift out of park. I pressed down on the brake, turned the stirring wheel all different ways, tried my extra key thinking maybe the chip in my other key was acting up. Then I even turned the car off and on like to reset it, then I tried locking and unlocking the doors with the keyless entry just in case there was some anit-theft device that needed to be reset.
Help - can't even get it out of my garage so I can take somewhere to be looked at and fixed. Happend the other night when I was out but not to this extent - was able to get it to move, I thought I just didn't push the button in all the way that is why it was hard to get out of park the 1st time.
i dident read all but the car won't go in to gear if the car dos'ent sence you pressing the brake its a safety thing check brake fuse thats seems like what is happing if you nned to the switch for the brake is right above the brake pedel it should have to wires to it but it could be a fuse

NEED TO SEE THE FUSE BOX DIAGRAM THAT TAKES CARE OF LIGHT BEHIND THE SPEEDOMETER
Review the 1998-Discovery-Owners-Manual-Section-4 (page 24 and next) The fuse is Nº 14 / 10 Amp for Instruments / Clock / Speed transducer.

how can i put the radio code to my land rover 1998
Hi there,
I think its fairly standard across all Land Rovers. First of all you need a code. This was supplied on a credit card sized piece of card with the original vehicle. I'l assume its not to hand... Typically, you can source the code (which is specific to your serial number / radio) from a supplier such as this on eBay

You only actually need numbered button <1> and the two seek buttons that look like <| and >| .

When you turn the radio on, you should see it request <CODE>
Press preset button <1>. This should identify character 1 of the code.
Use one of the two tuning buttons (Seek up , or seek down - the ones with arrows going into lines) to move to the right number (0-9).
Press preset button <1> again to lock digit 1 and move onto code digit 2.
Repeat twiddling the upseek and downseek. Press button 1 etc .... until all four codes have been entered.
When you press <1> for the final time, if the code is correct, you'll get a two tone beep to confirm and the radio is unlocked.
If incorrect, you are progressively locked out (in doubling time periods).
