Hood Release 1998 Land Rover Discovery I

You can adjust release on front brace by loosening bolts and setting it. I grease all my latches with moly grease. And lube cable under dash shield.

1998 Land Rover Discovery Series 1

You can energise the interlock solenoid, by you give a positive (+12V) lead to the RED and a negative (ground) to the black line at the transmission selector's connector.
If it works you should check the positive signal at the red.
It should be there if the ignition is on, brake pedal depressed, and the transfer box is in some gear, and the fuse 1 isn't blown.
At the black cable should be a ground signal if the selector in 'P' position.
If you give me an e-mail address I'll send the wiring.

The ABS problem, you have better to check followings.
- All the wheels bearings' play.
- are the ABS sensors at the deepst position? Knock some to that head (not strong) and they shouldn't move deeper.

Land Rover Discovery 1998 runs great but suddenly it changes

If the engine is revving but the car doesn't move faster , I would be looking at the clutch or Gearbox.Sounds like the clutch is slipping.
Have your mechanic check it out.
Hope this helps.

Dash light and tail lights not working

The dash and tail lights are controled by the first "click" of the headlight switch found on the turn signal arm.

If the fuses are good, then your turn signal arm has failed.

First click is running lights (dash and outside marker lights), second is headlights.

The 1st position of the 2 position switch has contacts internally that have worn and no longer complete the circuit.

Replace the turn signal arm.

Trouble shoot Security system 1998 Range Rover

Sounds like the contact in the key remote has been shorted or broken. It has happened to many of my remotes. If you shake it does it sound like something is rattling around inside? If so, its unfortunately broken and you need a new one.

I have a 1998 Land Rover Discovery with alarm problems.

Easy dont bother locking the car i never lock any of my cars if a tea leaf wants to get in then let them as i dont even bother with a CD player ,your problem will have to go to a dealer with the relevant software to be able to diagnose the problem correctly ,it could be a simple fault with a worn lock mechanism on the back of the door lock barrel though so take the door panel off and check it out before you go to the dealer

the easy way is take off the fuel filter shake up and down and drain the fuel on any clean container and you will be see how dirty are and check the fuel pressure in the line from the the tank if pressure is ok check the power or volts to the pump.
