Can find the Vin on Land Rover Discovery

Your VIN should be located at the bottom of the windshield on a plate fitted to the dash on the driver's side of your vehicle. You would view it from the outside of the vehicle. The VIN should also be fitted to a identification tag on the bottom edge of the door inside or on the door jam.

How do i turn on the cruise control for a 96 land

Like many cruise control systems there are the working controls and sepearate master power switch that can disable cruise control so it can't be turned on accidentally. The working controls to set speed, acc and off are on the steering wheel. There is a master power switch though on the center area of the dash next to the left of heater controls on a US model. It is a picture of a road running straight under an overpass.

The system is vaccumm controlled though and if you have a vaccumm leak it will not work. They are pretty easy to fix though and easy to see. Open the hood and find the throttle body assembly. Look for the throttle cable and in that area there should be a black soft plastic hose about the thickness of a pen. If this is diconnected from any connectors or cracked the cruise control won't work. Good Luck!

I cannot find the voltage relay on my 1996 laand rover discovery

The spider unit is a small black box of relays, controlled by the immobiliser & alarm, mounted on a panel just in front of (toward the front of the vehicle) and below the radiocassette slot - a very inconvenient position which is designed to be very inaccessible to thieves in a hurry. This contains relays which isolate various key circuits of the vehicle.
Good luck

I need to replace the fan belt. Which pulleys does it go around?

Hi there,

My brother in law and I changed it without taking anything apart except the fan cover, what you'll need to do is gently use a crobar to release the tensioner pully directly below the alternator, and jam it a bit, then slowly release the old belt, if it's as worn as mine was you'll be fine. Then simply run the new belt starting from the bottom up. There's a great diagram on the weblink below.

When parked on slope hand brake screeches on my 2yr old Dicovery

no problem ,its only a bit of noise so dont panic.its caused by either dust or **** in the rear drums underneath the rear brake disks. The rear brakes use disks on the rear but in the middle is brake shoes as its a combined disk and drum set up.Just need a good clean out and rub face of shoes with coarse sand paper.
