What size battery for a 1999 Porsche 996?

Don't worry about the size ... the group, etc. Go to the auto parts store tell them what your car is and they will provide you with exactly the proper size with the proper posts in the right place.

Your will have to make the decision "Economy", "Standard" or "Premium". These different grade batteries will provide different CCA ratings with more CCA at the higher end. CCA = Cold Crank Amps. Buy as much battery as you an afford if you are keeping this vehicle.

1999 Carrera 4 hasn't been driven for about one

Make sure your battery is fully charged and all battery connections are clean and tight. If the vehicle still makes the clicking noise when you try to start it, then it is your starter solenoid.

Porsche overheating & coolant loss through expansion tank

Check this out. Had the same problem. Easy fix. When you pull up at the lights does it blow steam everywhere as your water drips onto the exhaust. Next step is the water gets onto the coils engine light comes on and it mis fires!! Anyway solution. As it is doing it when you look at the bottom of the expansion tank you will see the water dripping. The tanks had a weakness and have I believe now been modified. Take it off and put your fingers over two of the three pipe holes, then blow down the other. Wifes often good at this!!! You will here a hissing as the tank has a pin hole in. It comes out fast as the pressure builds. To remove the tank undo the air box (1 x 10mm bolt and the screw on the large jubilee clip) Then undo the two petrol pipe bolts ensure your engine is cold. You should need a seventeen mm spanner. Then just under the engine lid you will see a 10mm nut which you need to undo. The box then slide forward toward the middle of the car and then back in a fastion!!! Give it a good blow you will see it. If you really must get in the bath with it and do it under the water.
Now get another and replace it.
Good luck everyone..... j

1999 carrera c2 feels like my clutch is slipping.

On the old 911's you could adjust the clutch. The new ones are hydraulic and self adjusting. Sounds like you need a new clutch.

I have a porsche 1999 911 carrera that will not start

Being that Porsche is part of the VW family, I'm going to say it's probably at least partially due to a bad coolant temp sensor. My Audi (again, part of the VW family) has had it fail in the past, and I know that the CTS is the root of many evils on these cars - when it goes bad, all kinds of screwy things happen. I'd start with that. On my Audi, it's a $20 part. For a Porsche, it'll be more, but it should still be pretty inexpensive.

1999 porsche 911 how to open hood with dead battery

The cheapest way to get around this and get enough voltage into the system to open the hood is to purchase a cigarette lighter extension (about 3 feet) and cut off the female plug on the end. Strip the 2 wires back a few inches and attach one to the positive and the other to the negative on a set of jumper cables. Attach the other end of the negative jumper to a battery. With the keyless entry in hand, touch the positive cable to the positive terminal on the battery and press the unlock button until you hear the car doors click. Once it clicks, you should be able to use the hood latch to gain access to the battery.

How to install passenger window carrera cab 1999

I can't give you the play by play just in general. You got to find the hidden screws that hold the door panel on.(most likely under handles) there are sometimes hidden buttons that unsnap.I've seen the so called installers mess up on removals. After you get the door panel off ,remove the window glass held by glass clips epoxied in.Install glass put back on door panel.Electric windows get more complicated with tension / cables. My advise Man you got a Porsche bring it in get it done right.Good Luck.

Low beams won't lite on 1999 996

Try checking the fuses in the interior & there should be another under the cowl or in back. If that's good then it's probably the switch itself.

1999 911

Hi;

The Hood Latch sometimes snaps; you need to find the cable from the latch and manually pull it. It involves removing some of the plastic cover which the cable hides under and a long pully like to pull the cable so it unlocks the bonnet.

You will notice where the Latch is snapped as they are normally plastic and can order a replacement.

I hope that helps,

Thanks.

Cant get in car to pop hood, dead battery key hole jammed!!

at this point you have 2 options, 1, go to a parts store and get a jimmy kit that helps you break into the car by unlocking the door, whicch sometimes can be tricky or if you have aaa they will unlock it for you for free, 2, you would have to reach from underneath and feel around for the cable, folow it to the latch assembaly and carefully release the latch assembaly, this way wil be very difficult and a tight area.
Good Luck.

Same as above... cant pop hood with a dead battery

If you open the fuse box in driver's compartment by your left leg, there is a red plug that you can pull that will expose a positive lead.

Put a charger on the lead and ground the other side of the charger to the frame and it will provide power to use the hood latch.

I have seen other people write about using the car charger that fits into the cigarette lighter but I have no personal knowledge. I hope that is helpful.

There is also an emergency release under one of the wheel wells but I never attempted to look for it.
