I have a 1998 Porsche 911. I simply want to disable / disconnect the alarm.is it as straightforward as removing a fuse?

Sometimes, it depends on if the Fuse is running any other equipment. Personally, I would find the alarm sensor and disconnect it. This would allow you to retain the factory remote start or keyless entry (if equipped.)

How to open the hood with a totally flat battery

i think it could be one of three things; the cable is detached from the handle, the cable is broken inside the sheathing, the cable sheathing is not anchored at the hood latch.

in the case of the cable being detached from the handle, look under the dash and inspect. if the cable is visible, use a pair of pliers to yank it. in the other cases you will have to gain access to the latch from under the car or through the grill. then it's a matter of releasig the latch with a screwdriver or similar tool which could prove to be difficult.

Car remote keys won't open the car

Look in the manual to see how to make the car "learn" the remote's code. Failing that, look for a box with lot of wires under a seat or find where computer that controls that is in your car. Press the learn button on the box, and push the door lock button on the remote a couple times.
