Try changing the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). This has a lot of influence on the idle. Other than that, look for a broken or split vacuum hose.

I don't know the actual size? When I buy torx bit, I buy them in a set, several different sizes to chose from. I have seen safety torx bit, The screw or whatever has a rise in the middle. You have to use that type bit. If your friends with the person at the autostore, they may let you borrow a bit off the shelf, so you can find one that will fit? They have let me do that in the past and the sales person was a stranger to me. I found the proper bit and I bought it. I'm new to the site, I don't how to find this post again?

For the security. Ford is tricky. First the have different two key codes to program the security system. The transponder in the key is the mostly thing to go bad in Fords/Lincolns.The receivers rarely go bad(inside the column). If you have a spare, try it. If you don't then you will have to have the car taken to the dealership and have a new key programmed. Or you can call a good(ask them if they can do it) locksmith. They will come to you.

They are designed to run on low all the time. This is to keep the cabin pressurized to avoid dust from the outside getting in while driving. If it is on another speed other than low then maybe the speed control is the culprit.

You can adjust the steering box but I really don't think that is your problem.Have someone get in the car and slowly turn the steering wheel back and forth while you look at the steering components. Check for excessive play in the steering components ( tie rods, pitman arm, center link, etc ) I think you will find the problem there and not the steering box. Let me know what you find

The brake must be applied before you can shift out of park.There is a switch under the dash at the top of the brake pedal that is activated when you press the brake pedal. I've had the wires come off the switch on my lincoln.

Some of the window motors had solder which would crack and break the connection. But the drivers door has an additional relay for the AUTO-UP or AUTO-DOWN feature that can also interrupt power. You would need to take off the door panel and test if you were getting power from the "AUTO" switch or if the motor was getting power and not performing. The drivers' door window is the most used in the car.

Roger, that doesn't even make a whole lot of sense to me. If the overdrive is causing the transmission to slip, wouldn't it also cause the fuel mileage to go down? Are you sure the transmission is slipping? Or is the transmission simply shifting in and out of overdrive? If it is, is it shifting at the proper speeds? Driving at around 40 - 50 Mph will sometimes make the transmission go in and out of overdrive repeatedly. This can be perfectly normal.Have you checked your transmission fluid level?Is your overdrive off light flashing? If the transmission is actually slipping the OD OFF light should be blinking at you to let you know there is a transmission problem. Either that, or the Check Engine light will be coming on. In either of these cases, you need to scan your onboard computer network for possible fault codes.

How would someone do that without the car to talk to you the driver,road test with professional tools.look at data & component test with or without codes I can't imagine how long or how many times you would wait an hour before you could start your car before you would drive or tow it to shop & end that misery It is not the injectors I would say the fuel pump is or has failed But again,you shouldn't take anyone's guess You have to have the vehicle tested The fuel system can be tested in about 8 different ways You could have several problems & if you only drive the car & never work on it a few times a year I'm sure that is the case It needs lots of testing & lots of thing done to it You injectors are 14 years old The only way to clean them is to remove them & mail away for Ultra-Sonic Cleaning No fuel tank additive or on car cleaning will help an injector in service for 14 years I could spend see you spend two thousand easily,just to catch up on Preventative Maintenance,given you made no mention of the vehicle history,past problems,repairs,etc

Hi Harley, Try to see if the sensor is not covered in muck or dust, clean it with a cotton bud. Also check in the owners manual for any possible fuse related issues, and in the back it should give you a technical overview. Hope it helps

I would check the flasher relays.they can be replaced individually as to the whole unit

I think this utilizes a relay.you can replace the relay instead of the whole control.turn signal emergency flasher realays

Is your trip computer registering mileage and reading out fuel economy correctly? If not, replace the SPEED SENSOR. If the trip computer appears to be working correctly, replace the SPEEDOMETER HEAD.
