I think the factory code for the 2000 Lincoln Continental is 005500. Tou can find out how to re program it in you owner manual or you can fo to Ford's webstire and downlaod a manual from the maintanence area.

You have to code set for the TCC so now you have direction for a fix.Use a good scan tool to check on the TCC condition and related control of it.

The generic way is to raise the front of the car as high as possible, fill the coolant recovery/surge tank all the way to the top and then run the engine until it reaches operating temperature, do not overheat this engine! Now shut the engine down and let it cool off, you can run cold water over the radiator to speed the cool down, it will gravity self bleed, repeat as needed.

Your particular vehicle has the 4R70W trans,and i have rebuilt a ton of them over the years.It could very well be a TCC shudder.Let me explain.Between the rear of the engine,and the front of the trans is a Torque Convertor.Inside the convertor is a clutch that only applies after 4th gear is achieved.This is to reduce slippage and gain better fuel economy.Sometimes,the fluid will deteriorate,or the clutch will become weak and won't hold totally,and will give a chattering or running over a washboard sensation.Sometimes the engagement and disengagement is simply harsh.This can usually be remedied with a fluid replacement of both the pan and the fluid in the torque convertor,along with some shudder fix fluid that you add in to the fluid.Total cost should be $100-$150-$200.If the fluid change and shudder fix doesn't correct the problem,then the torque convertor itself would need to be replaced with a remanufactured unit.Ford has more info on this shudder fix as there was a recall campaign i believe for the convertor shudder problem.Good luck.

There is one at the input shaft and one at the output shaft. I could help if you gave me the code. This car has many transmission issues, you likely do have a slipping transmission, you don't fee it but the computer senses it through the turbine speed sensors.

My car is really a 1975, but I couldn't find that choice in you pull down menu. I put the correct year in the notes section. I found another site that sells the complete wiring diagram for a 1975 Lincoln for about $6.00 thanks for your response...

Check hand book in the glove box or draw a pattern before you pull it apart,check under the hood when raised.

Try a heavier grade oil and check valve seals.

Where the top radiator hose enters the motor and in some cars the bottom hose but there is a housing for it.

make sure the dimmer switch is not turned to the on position for the interior lights.
