Hard steering

You need the sensitivity switch to work to get more assist at lower speeds. Some slight changes in suspension geometry can occur if the Ride height is below standards. Your best plan would be to take it in for a front end alignment where all components are inspected before any adjustments are made. Air the tires up to recommended pressure-cold temperatures can cause a drop in pressure.

My wipers quit working. what should i check?

Try checking the fuses, refer to your owners manual for the location, also see if it has a relay for the wipers. I have limited time this morning will check back on this later after looking at my 98 Continental.

Fuse number eleven keeps blowing on 1998 lincoln conttenial what works that fuse

The equipment connected with this fuse is listed as the Ignition coils, the radio interference capacitor, the PCM relay and the passive Anti-theft System Module. I think I would replace the PCM relay as it is the only part listed which has moving parts inside. In addition, you can check if the PCM relay is the same part as the Horn relay and use the horn relay in place of the former PCM relay. If your short goes away, then you know the old PCM relay was bad. If the fuse breaks before you crank the engine, you could disconnect the coils and see if the fuse still breaks. The radio capacitor, you need a little better diagram to identify this wire and when disconnected, you would know if the fuse breaks or not. If its the anti-theft, then that is more complicated to solve. Test all the other stuff first. Please let me know what you find.

Need the factory keyless entry code to reprogram drivers door keypad. Owners manual insert is no longer available.

Check inside the trunk lid for a label with a 5 digit code. If unsuccessful, then any dealer would be able to help you by checking the VIN number.

Will not idle

Have you changed the TPS? The Throttle Positioning Sensor is about $30.00 and can cause this problem. It is located on the side of the throttle body, you will need to take the throttle body loose, remove and replace the TPS sensor. Be careful not to drop the screws down the intake! About 30 minutes and 30 dollars.

This is a lean Code for Bank 2 Oxygen sensor. You could have a Vacuum leak on the Intake Manifold. Use a water spray bottle and while the engine is running, spray the seams of the Intake. If the engine RPM changes you have found your leak.

1998 Lincoln continental low coolant level added

There are electric cooling fans which have Relays and the fans themselves can break. These are triggered by separate heat sensors other than the one that controls the dash indicator.Once you add coolant, if it stays full, you are okay for water volume. But water alone does not cool the engine. The electric cooling fans are just as important. If the coolant level drops again, there are 2 potential problems for the loss. A leak or boiling over. You can tape a paper towel around the overflow tube discharge at the bottom of the car to verify that the water is being lost out the overflow.Another thing to consider is that the cooling fans may have 2 speeds and high speed may not be working.

4.6 liter, 97 Continental, 177,000 miles Engine miss

My 1998 Continental started missing. Problem was very slightly leaking valve cover gasket that allowed a little oil to drip on plug/plug wires. The oil would 'burn off' and not be evident on the driveway. It left carbon tracks that would short out and keep a plug from sparking.the cylindars.
