I changed the oil and filter and started the car

Hello! The oil pressure is extremely high...The most probably cause is a plugged Positive Crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve...Replace the PCV valve and the hose that connects it to the intake..It is located in the passenger side valve cover....See photo below...Guru..............Saailer

Cruise control does not work

If you have not had the recall done, you need to contact a ford/lincoln dealer to get it done or looked at-even if you did have it done, I'd get them to look at it because it is a known fire hazard-they will look at it for nothing, and repair it if the recall has not been done or fix it if it has been done and the repair caused the problem. This is a serious issue, it can actually catch fire when parked, and has been the cause of a lot of damage.

How do i change the thermostat?

the thermostat is in a housing about a foot and a half below the top of the engine on the driver side, in front of and below the power steering resovior-it is usually easier to change it from below, and it is a messy job-drain teh radiator first, have a lot of rags and prepare for a antifreeeze bath. not a fun job.

Engine speeds up on it own

It might be the TPS, but on these cars it is probably the IAC-Idle Air Control, which is just to the left of the throttle body as you look at the firewall from the passenger side. It is a joke to remove and absurd to reinstall, but it can be done. First, though, try to use seafoam to remove carbon from the intake (you actually stick a vacuum line, like the PVC hose, in the can to **** it into the intake while the engine is running-then let it sit for a little while, then start it up-prepare to welcome the volunteer fire company because it should smoke a whole lot-just annoying, not dangerous)-then, if you can, throw another can in the gas tank. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and let the car sit for at least 10 minutes, reconnect it, restart it and LET IT IDLE for at least 10 minutes-do not give it any throttle, or drive it-the sensors send new 'baselines' the the ECU. and this probably will help get it back to a normal idle. If it doesn't, you need to replace the IAC-sorry, it is a bear to do. Good luck.

Lincoln mark viii, front end lowers slightly when

You have a leaky airbag in the front end - a common problem for those vehicles but not a cheap fix either. There are aftermarket solutions to replace the airbag suspension but they are involved to install, making this an expensive fix either way. Check with local wrecking yards to see if they may have your specific model there for parts - but bear in mind their airbags may leak too. You may be able to find replacement airbags online - don't replace just one, rather both front bags to eliminate the need for repeat repairs soon after the initial.I would evaluate the cost of repair versus the value of the vehicle, unless you are restoring this car or planning on giving it to your child.
Good luck!!

I want to know what the little black box that

That is called the air bag module, unless your talking about the airbag deploy sensors, these sensors are locted outside the car, like in nthe front of the car near radiator. heres a diagram of the airbag system to help you, depending on which little box you are talking about, you will be able to see its location and it will tell you what it is. hope this is helpful, good luck. remember the module in in the dash and the crash sensors are in the front of engine compartment behind headlight area.53a1fd7.gif329432c.gif2d428d6.gif
