May cost more, but too many horror stories abound with putting sensitive after market sensors on cars. Too often, they just don't work as well as original manufacturer parts. Some things are fine as aftermarket, but I wouldn't recommend electronic parts that communicate with the engine computer.

Yes there is a serpentine belt that runs the alternator and accessories. That must be on the engine.Unless you damaged the crankshaft or the oil pan I doubt hitting a bump or dip would do anything to the timing belt. It is behind the cover behind the pulleys. But anything is possible.You could have knocked a wiring harness connector or other component loose.

There are 2, 12mm bolts loosen them up and be sure the wheels are pointed forward before undoing them as this will misalign ypur steering. Then you should be able to slide the rag joint up or down to diconmect the steering and get the pedal assembly past it to fnish the installment.
