The gauges are computer controlled, if the system fails the gauses all stop. You need the dealer to scan this with the KIA tool.

What doesn't work?

probably the coil pack get a mechanic to check the OBD codes

Classic signs of a bad water pump. When on the freeway, the circulation of coolant through the system is increased due to the speed but once you slow down, it will tend to overheat. Please post back with any other questions or just to rate the solution. Thanks very much!

have a pressure test done on the tranny you need a scanner tool to check this and a good tranny shop will have one

Read this please concering the check engine light.

The information below was complied by me, it explains what causes the check engine light to come on and the process of finding the cause.

When the Check Engine light (or Service Engine Soon or small picture of an engine) is turned on, the systems computer control unit (called the PCM) has sensed a fault in the electronic controls of the engine and/or the emission system. When this happens you will seldom feel the car engine run any different. There are about 200 possible system faults (the gas cap is just one of them) that turn the Check Engine light on, to know what has developed a problem you must have the system tested, this is called an OBD2 fault code test, Kragen/Oriley and Autozone parts stores (USA only) do this testing for free.

Blown head gasket ? Does it not crank or not start ?

Pop open the hood and look at the back of the headlight assembly you will see 2 caps they twist to unlock. once unlocked you have access to the bulb just rember they only go in one way so look at the bulb before removing it.

try cleaning the battery terminals . Good Luck

Could be a bad ignition coil.

You may have to loosen one of the motor mounts and jack up the engine a little bit

If you have never done timing don't try it ....but you can get a book for that model car and read carefully as a mistake will cost you an engine
