have the charging system checked to see if alternator output is steady, this may cause drive-ability issues if the alternator is defective or you have poor battery cable connections or a poor engine ground from the battery, clean and tighten all as needed.

Can i manually reset my

Yes you can but there will be some side effects associated with it also, but those memory related problems will be temporary and will reprogram itself after you drive the car for a few miles again. You can reset the check engine light by disconnecting the battery. Most vehicles from 1996 and newer have a stay alive memory built-in to the computer system. When you disconnect the battery from the vehicle to reset the check engine light. The computer will be able to hold the memory and the code for several minutes and in some cases several hours.Battery voltage is stored in a capacitor and is supplied to the computer to keep the memory alive. The way around this is to disconnect the batteryand then hold down on the horn button.
This will drain the small electrical current that is stored in the control modules capacitor. this will reset check engine light for sure.
As a side note, when you do this you will definitelyerase all memoryassociated with the computer as well.
When you reconnect the battery on the vehicle and confirm the reset check engine light procedure has been successful, you may find that the engine idle may be erratic for several drive cycles. This is because the memory idle learn has also been erased along with your check engine light code. This problem is usually short-term and will correct itself, after driving the vehicle for a few miles at highway speeds.
Also note if the check engine light comes back on after this reset check engine light procedure you have a hard failure code. This is when a failure is constant and will need diagnosis.
So to review you do have a few options for resetting your check engine light, but the easiest way is to use an auto scan tool to clear the code.
Have a look at it and comment if you need more advice.

Hi.

I have the manual for the XJ8 (Vanden Plas), however that is the factory manual from Jaguar, and disassembly procedure for the instrument cluster it is not illustrated.

Better if you instead use this manual for XJ6, showing step by step disassembly of the whole car.

You can find both manuals here:

Changing a fuel pump in

Things You'll Need:
  • Ratchet and socket
  • Wrench set
  • Floor jack and 2 jack stands
  • Ratchet extension
  • Fuel tank sending unit wrench number 310-123
  • Screwdriver
  • Slip joint pliers
  • New O-ring seal
  • Clean engine oil
Relieve the Fuel System Pressure
  1. Step 1 Detach the splash shield from the frame rail located underneath the driver's side door. Use a ratchet and socket.
  2. Step 2 Unplug the electrical connector you will see after removing the splash shield. The connector leads to the fuel pump module.
  3. Step 3 Start the engine and let it idle until it stalls. Then crank the engine for about 5 seconds to relieve the remaining fuel pressure from the system. If the engine does not start due to a bad fuel pump, crank the engine to make sure fuel pressure is relieved.
  4. Step 4 Turn the ignition key to the Off position.
  5. Remove the Fuel Pump
  6. Step 1 Disconnect the ground, battery cable from the battery using a wrench.
  7. Step 2 Jack up the rear of your F-150 using a floor jack and support it on 2 jack stands.
  8. Step 3 Remove the tank shield if your particular model is equipped with it using a ratchet, ratchet extension and socket.
  9. Step 4 Support the fuel tank with the floor jack.
  10. Step 5 Disconnect the straps holding the tank to the truck's body using the ratchet, ratchet extension and socket.
  11. Step 6 Lower the fuel tank just enough to gain access to the fuel lines, vapor lines and fuel pump electrical connector on top of the tank.
  12. Step 7 Disconnect the fuel lines and vapor lines from the sending unit/pump module. Press the lock tabs on the lines quick connectors and carefully pull the lines from their fittings. Then unplug the pump-module electrical connector.
  13. Step 8 Release the sending unit/pump module by turning the lock ring counterclockwise using the fuel tank sending unit wrench 310-123 or equivalent. See the Resources box and Tip boxes at the bottom of this article for more information.
  14. Step 9 Lift the sending unit/pump module off the tank carefully and discard the O-ring seal underneath the flange of the module.
  15. Install the Fuel Pump
  16. Step 1 Remove the old fuel pump from the module using a screwdriver and a pair of slip joint pliers and install the new pump on the module.
  17. Step 2 Lubricate the new O-ring seal with clean engine oil and lay the seal on the fuel tank opening.
  18. Step 3 Install the sending unit/pump module in the tank and turn the lock ring clockwise using the fuel tank sending unit wrench.
  19. Step 4 Lift the fuel tank just enough to attach the fuel lines, vapor line and plug the pump module electrical connector.
  20. Step 5 Raise the fuel tank to set it in its mounting place and secure the tank straps using the ratchet, ratchet extension and socket.
  21. Step 6 Install the fuel tank shield using the ratchet, ratchet extension and socket, if you had to remove it.
  22. Step 7 Lower your Cadillac Deville.
  23. Step 8 Connect the ground, battery cable using the wrench.
  24. Build Fuel System Pressure
  25. Step 1 Plug the electrical connector located on the frame rail underneath the driver's side door.
  26. Step 2 Attach the splash shield to the frame rail using the ratchet and socket.
  27. Step 3 Turn the ignition key to the "On" position for three seconds to let the fuel system build pressure. Then turn the key to the "Off" position. Repeat the cycle three times to make sure the system has enough pressure.
  28. Step 4 Start the engine and check for fuel leaks.
Good luck and do rate this solution, please.

The door handle does not

Hello. All door panels are attached with clips that attach to the back of the panel and then get inserted into holes in the door frame. These clips are usually plastic and rather delicate. They often break when you try to remove the panel; but the good news is that they are common items available at most auto parts and auto body/paint supply store.
Begin by checking the panel and the door handle area for screws. Remove all of the screws paying close attention to which screw goes in each hole. One safe way to do this is to tape each screw to a piece of cardboard and label each one. Once any screws are removed, use a putty knife to pry the panel up. Slide the blade between the frame and the panel and gently lift up working your way around the panel and freeing up the clips as they become accessible to you. Regards, Joe

2003 Jaguar Vanden Plas Luggage

hi
Look under the "U" in "Jaguar" on the chrome strip on the trunk. You'll find a key slot where you can insert your ignition key. You may have to remove the license tag frame (if you have one) to get the key into the slot
OR
There should be a little jaguar insignia in the middle of the trunk lid . If the doors are unlocked just push it in it is a push button latch.
OR
Look in the center of the little Jaguar badge on the trunk lid.
The key fits in a slot there, to open the trunk .

hope the solutions will work
regards

Speedometer not working

rlane104, if you disconnect the wire that hooks up to the sensor but leave the power hooked up. Then turn the key to on and look at the speedometer. If it moves all the way over to the other side and back or some movement, then the speedometer works. If it doesn't, then you have a bad speedometer. Check all your fuses and there should not be an inline fuse. Maybe if its an external or aftermarket, then there might be a fuse in the unit itself. But, recheck all your connections.
