2002 HYUNDAI SONATA GAS FILLING PROBLEM - IT WON'T TAKE IT!
Ya, check behind the drivers rear wheel. There is a black box which contains the charcoal canister, filter, solenoid. You'll need to jack up the car, take that wheel off, mud flap and another plastic section inside the wheel well which will expose the hoses that run in and out of that box. . . . take note where all the hoses go. You'll need to remove the whole thing to get at the filter. The electrical lead that attaches to the solenoid has a unique locking clamp so its difficult to unplug, I opened the trunk and cut the wire where is runs into the wiring harness.(careful to leave enough wire to work with to re-connect it). The filter is hopefully the problem, its only around $10.
2002 hyundia sonata won't turn over
The problem is in the starting system circuit. The ignition switch applies a ground to the starter relay (located under the hood near the battery in the fuse/relay box), it, it turn, applies power to the starter solenoid which pushes the starter bendix gear into the ring gear on the engine flywheel. When the bendix gear is fully inserted into the ring gear, the solenoid also makes contact with the battery cable connection (internally in the starter solenoid) and applies battery power to the starter motor, which, in turn cranks the engine. A non-crank condition can be caused by a malfunction in any of these components in the starter system, not to mention a bad ground circuit between the engine and the battery/chassis. Since you didn't mention whether or not there was any 'click' when the ignition switch is turned to the 'start' position, I'd look at that circuit first.
Timing marks
Hi
Thanks for using FixYa. From what
you have described as you
look at the crankshaft sprocket, there will be a small sprocket in front of a
spacer plate, which will be in front of a larger sprocket. There will be
a notch in the spacer plate that will align with a pointer on the oil pump
case. When you remove the spacer to service the balance shaft belt,
you'll see a dot on the larger sprocket which aligns to the pointer in the same
position as the notch would. On the balance shaft sprocket, there will be
a dot or line which will line up with a cutout on the rear of the oil pump
case. The mark should be at 9 O’clock when aligned. Also, when doing the
timing belt remember that the front balance shaft sprocket (the one driven by
the main timing belt) turns in a 3:2 ratio with the balance shaft. When
aligning the marks on this sprocket, turn the sprocket a little bit away from
alignment. If it tends to return, you have it set correctly. If it
tends to continue turning in the same direction, you need to rotate it 360
degrees. Also check this

Power steering pressure hose
even a hyundai tech cringes when the have to replace one, take my advice, do not try this at home you cant do it with conventional tools, take it to either the dealer or an independant shop.
Hyundai won't start after filling with gas.
9 time out of 10 you have a 'purge control solenoid valve' which is stuck in the 'OPEN' position. Replace it and the problem should go away. Hope this helps.. If not, let me know and I'll do further research (provided you provide me with more diagnostic information).
After I pump fuel in my car it does not want to
you need to replaced the purge control valve. it sits on the back side of the intake plenum under the accelerator cables. a rubber hose in, a rubber hose out and a connector on top of the valve. when it is sticking it "floods" the intake with gas vapors and causes the hard start.
