1992 saab 9000 weird noise then engine shuts off

Remove the water pump belt. Start and see if the noise is gone. If the noise is gone you have a bad component that is driven by the belt.

If the fuel pump is'nt running then it's a bad relay or blown fuse. If the pump is running then it could be a few things, a bad timing belt, bad cam sensor, bad crankshaft sensor, could be the timing is off which you can adjust with the distributor, or it could be a bad o2 sensor or MAP sensor.

Im having brake problems i

Steel brakes lines have a tendency to rust from the outside in, and they can chafe at the clips due to vibration etc. In my experience they always go bad in the most inaccessable place under the car. You have no choice but to replace the entire line or a section of it. Different lengths of brake line are sold at the auto parts stores but to install you will need a flaring tool and a cutoff tool. After you replace the line the brakes must be bled with the proper fluid, probably DOT4. It's a dirty job but with the right tools and a little persistance can be done by the home mechanic.

Your best bet is to let the back seats down and crawl into the trunk. You can then remove the screw tabs holding the vinyl panel covering the hatch. After removing the hatch covering use a flashlight to see the linkage for the lock. Now you can open the hatch easily by just pressing the spring loaded portion on the lock mechanism.Voila.

Hi Mark try spraying some starting fluid in the intake. You asked about putting petrol in the carburettor...your 1992 Saab has a carburettor? Impossible. That vehicle is fuel injected.Spray the starting fluid lightly or you'll flood the engine.

My 92 saab 9000 wont start. it makes a spinning

Either the timing belt/chain/gears has failed, which can really change the sound of cranking, but the engine visibly goes around.

If the engine does not turn (as it sounds is the case with your car), but the starter spins fast enough to be described as sounding like a hairdryer, then the starter drive is bad and the starter will need to be replaced or rebuilt.

The starter drive is turned by the starter motor, and the drive in turn turns the gear that engages the flywheel of the engine. The part that turns that gear will not let the starter motor be pushed by the engine — it has a one-way, overrunning clutch in it. If the engine got a chance to spin the starter, the starer would simply explode. It is maybe 10 or 15 to one between the engine. One good start using the gas pedal would spin the starter like 15 to 25 thousand RPM...

If that overrunning clutch fails the starter motor cannot spin the gear that turns the engine.

92 saab 9000 turbo runs itermittently

mcdevito75 here, With all that work, you most likely have a bad either elctrical or fuel connection, have the shop check the fuel connections on the motor along with fuel pump operation and all connections with-in the ignition sytem, (sytem that makes spark to the plugs) If all checks out fine, change the cars ignition Module.

SAAB 1992 Broken tention pulley bracket from the

Hi my name is Tom and I can help.

The long and the short of this story is no you do not have to purchase another block. I believe you can get this part at your dealership or even an auto parts store will be able to track down the part.

The dealership might have to order the part, but you should not have to replace the block. In fact if my memory is in tact the tensor pulley is on the head and not the block. Therefore, at most you would need to replace the head.

Either way please let me know if I can be of further help. I would appreciate you giving me the thumbs up I deserve for the information I have given you.

Changed the fuel filter in a 92 saab 2.3 turbo.

The fuel pressure might be low(fuel pump , pressure regulator)
You may have vacuum leak somewere in intake system.
Bad air flow sensor , throttle position sensor etc...
Multiple causes for case like this.
Probably better take it to a workshop , unless you have knowlage and tools to check all those components.

The brake lights will not come on when brake pedal

Do you mean the dash computer is saying Brake lights have failed? or the dash instruments are not lit and thus indicating no faults in the system?
If you have proven the fuse and the bulbs, the next step is to prove the brake light switch. You will find this mounted on top of the brake pedal so is quite awkward to get to, You will probably need a torch aswell. Once you've located the switch, there will be a pair of wires attached to the switch either by a plug or and hopefully 2 seperate spade connections. Either way, you need to remove the connections from the switch and using a piece of wire or conductor, create a path between the 2 wires. this should illuminate the lamps (ensure ignition is switched on to test). If the lamps work from this test, you first need to check on the switch that when the pedal is depressed that the switch is springing out. if it does then a new switch will be required. If the switch does not spring out while the pedal is depressed, then it may just need freeing off or the switch adjusting.
Hope this works. Have patience while doing this because of the restricted space you are trying to work in. Good luck :-)
