Remove the water pump belt. Start and see if the noise is gone. If the noise is gone you have a bad component that is driven by the belt.

If the fuel pump is'nt running then it's a bad relay or blown fuse. If the pump is running then it could be a few things, a bad timing belt, bad cam sensor, bad crankshaft sensor, could be the timing is off which you can adjust with the distributor, or it could be a bad o2 sensor or MAP sensor.

The fuel pressure might be low(fuel pump , pressure regulator)
You may have vacuum leak somewere in intake system.
Bad air flow sensor , throttle position sensor etc...
Multiple causes for case like this.
Probably better take it to a workshop , unless you have knowlage and tools to check all those components.

Steel brakes lines have a tendency to rust from the outside in, and they can chafe at the clips due to vibration etc. In my experience they always go bad in the most inaccessable place under the car. You have no choice but to replace the entire line or a section of it. Different lengths of brake line are sold at the auto parts stores but to install you will need a flaring tool and a cutoff tool. After you replace the line the brakes must be bled with the proper fluid, probably DOT4. It's a dirty job but with the right tools and a little persistance can be done by the home mechanic.

Your best bet is to let the back seats down and crawl into the trunk. You can then remove the screw tabs holding the vinyl panel covering the hatch. After removing the hatch covering use a flashlight to see the linkage for the lock. Now you can open the hatch easily by just pressing the spring loaded portion on the lock mechanism.Voila.

Hi Mark try spraying some starting fluid in the intake. You asked about putting petrol in the carburettor...your 1992 Saab has a carburettor? Impossible. That vehicle is fuel injected.Spray the starting fluid lightly or you'll flood the engine.
