How to reset memory
When ever the engine electrical has been disconnected for a while such as while you are doing some major work on the engine and you disconnect the battery or even if you switch engines the computer will need to relearn the driving habits so to speak. Start the vehicle and let idle for five minutes the put the vehicle in gear and slowly pull out. Drive in a gentle way for 5- 10 miles then slowly you increase the speed. do not just romp into it. It can take several days of normal driving before the computer has relearned the driver information. I take a nice drive through the neighbor hood stopping at stop signs slowly speeding up and slowing down before I go out on the high way. I then take about a 50 mile trip where the speed limits vary from 40 to interstate speed. Once the computer has completed the relearning it will idle and drive smoother for you. Hope this helps.
How do you replace a fuel pump in kia sorento?
Hello gabbiesavas: My name is Roger and I will help you. The fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank. To gain access to the pump you will need to remove the rear seat cushion from the vehicle. Remove the screws in the access panel located under the seat. Disconnect the wire harness from the pump and the fuel lines. Be careful that the fuel lines may be under pressure. Also be careful not to make a spark.Remove the retainer nuts or screws holding the fuel pump housing and lift pump from the tank. Be careful not to spill gas on your carpet. Reverse the procedure to reinstall the pump.
2003 Kia sorento starts and then won't start
There is a black rubber button reset switch right next to the air box, press it sounds like the problem i had its a fuel pump reset (just in case of a wreck it kills the car) but there is a tiny ball in there and if it is rattled a little too much it will fall and you need to press the black looking button to reset it....took me like 4 months to figure it out
It will crank but won't start, any suggestions?
check to see if it has a crankshaft sensor? Do you have a timing belt or chain? Take off the distribtor cap and see if the sahft of the distribtor turns while cranking if it does not turn you need a timing belt replaced.
I have a antifreeze leak on the back side of my 3.5 liter kia sorento motor,I took all the heater hoses loose and they look fine. What else could be leaking coolant the Y that connects the hoses is ok
Hi Kevin.
The general route of coolant will be the engine block, the heater core in/near the dashboard, the radiator, and, often, a coolant overflow reservoir that buffers you from leaks if your coolant gets extra hot or bubbly.
So, along with the heater hoses, there are the radiator hoses, either end. Hose connections to the block. Hose to wherever your coolant check/refill container is. The drain plug at the bottom of the radiator.
There is one other place that coolant can go, though you gotta hope this isn't it. If your head gasket is on it's last legs, coolant can start leaking into your cylinder head. This can show up overtly as white smoke, not so smooth running, or mysterious random moments where a hose suddenly bursts or pops loose. Or it can just be an occasional pinhole leak that's hard to detect.
One of the biggest tells - park the car on a flat smooth surface overnight after you've driven it a while. When you come out the next day, is there coolant on the ground anywhere. if yes, the location can help you track it. if no, then exit through the cylinder head may be the culprit. You'd want to run a compression check to make sure, and then contemplate whether fixing it is worth it on a twelve year old car.
Good Luck!
Air condition and heat know not working
You need to ensure the engine is running when you are testing the AC or heating systems, as they rely upon a compressor to work the heat pump.
If your engine is on when you are testing this and no different temp air comes out, you should ensure your AC system is properly charged with coolant and that the compressor is engaging and functioning. If not, it will need to be replaced.
