ABS and TCS lights come on, odometer and speedometer stop working

You can fix this yourself, in a couple of hours with basic hand tools. You will need a rebuilt ABS module. Try this link for an under $500 repair. The dealer will want $2800, + labor.

I don't have an owners manual and my 2000 saab 9-3

The fact that the engine is turning over means it is not the starter. It's clearly working. Tapping it will do nothing for you.

When an engine won't start, it's indicative of not getting fuel or not getting spark at the cylinder.

Trying to find thermostat on a 2000 Saab 9-5 Aero turbo

Most thermostats are located at the engine end of the upper rad hose. Rarely some thermostats are at the engine end of the lower rad hose but unlikely. Certain VW's have that distinction.Let me know if this helps.Moe

Car stop while driving

It may be the throttle body. Just replaced mine. I would be driving 60 and my car would die if I let off the gas. Old throttle body was in limp mode. I was also having a problem with a bouncing idle, car would stall at a stop. Now seems fine.

Non starting engine, rapid clicking noise

Mike, From your description of the problem, and given that the car was, prior to this attempted start, working properly, it soinds like you are not getting enough power to your starter solenoid to fully engage, thus the click. Start by checking your connections at the battery, make sure they are clean and tight, I would suggest you disconnect and clean thououghly with a wire terminal brush. Water and baking soda will help dissipate the acid build up. You may then spray the connections with a contact spray, (from your local auto parts store), then reconnect. Also if you think the battery is weak, you could try a boost when you attempt to re-crank. Your connection at the solenoid should also be checked and cleaned, although the problem is likely at the battery. Remember, it takes a lot more amps to engage the starter and spin your engine, than to turn on the lights and blow your horn. If this works, you should have your charging system checked for output..usually free at advance or autozone. The corrosion at the terminals works both ways, not only can it keep your car from cranking, it can impede charging of your battery as well. Hope this is helpful.

CLOUD OF SMOKE ON COLD START WHAT COUD BE THE PROBLEM AND IS THERE AN INEXPENSIVE SOLUTION

Your issue would be bad "valve stem seals". They are hard rubber seals that wrap around the valve to seal out oil, and prevent it from going into you cylinders. When they get old and worn out, they will allow oil to seep into the cylinders.

Fuel pump or something else

Hi the trac off light and the car not running have nothing to do with each other
the TRAC OFF LIGHT will set a code in the EBCM
to check the fuel pump remove the gas cap and have someone turn the key to run and while you listen at the filler neck if you can hear a humming noise then the pump is working
if the pump is working then check fuel pressure and spark
hopes this helps you

2000 saab 9-5 aero 2.3 turbo trouble code P1925

White smoke isn't good. Usually, it signifies fried rings, letting oil into the chamber, thus resulting in burnt oil and hence, white smoke. Check AFR and compression immediately. Could also be due to busted head gasket letting in oil- check your radiator and see if you find traces of rainbow-coloured patches. Or odd patches, if running anti-freeze coolants.I am pretty sure you have fried your pistons.
--------------
also chances that its --yr-- rings.. but if u still want to confirm then first chek yr turbo ... if its leaking... also yr turbo oil feed line... if there is a lot of oil press it sometimes tends to throw drops of oil into the turbo which wud cause white smoke.... so u can restrict the line a little bit... if not all this then its time for a rebuild .
----------------
also overfilling oil in the turbo with new bigger dia oil feed line can cause leakage from turbo seals and exhaust is burnning oil.

Convertible top acting up

There are a number of known issues affecting the 9-3 convertible top. TSB 811-1989 describes a problem and fix for the cables to the lock for the top cover.
TSB 811-2101 refers to the jamming of the top cover due to a deformed hinge and provides the fix for this.
TSB 811-2160 deals with instances where the first bow hits the top cover while the top is opening, due to a deformed shear pin, and provides that repair procedure.
Where the soft top cannot be operated or it stops in mid-operation, the SID displays the message CHECK
SOFT TOP COVER, and the following diagnostic trouble codes are be generated: B2025, B2026, B2030, B2031, refer to TSB 811-2236.
Any of these four problems can result in the top cover failing to open and close properly, and can interrupt the smooth operation of the opening and closing of the top.
Finally, the top may somehow have otherwise become out of sync and this does indeed require a Tech 2 diagnostic scan and programming tool to correct. All Saab dealerships have this tool, and an increasing number of independent shops that do appreciable work on Saabs are so equipped now.

1999 Saab 9-3 convertible. Motor

There is a manual release behind the rear seat on the passenger side. Pulling it releases the tonneau motor plate away from the gears, allowing top to be raised and lowered manually.Once this release is used, the back bottom edge of the top will never seat against the tonneau again until the top is repaired.

2004 saab 9-5 remote CIM module

receiver is hidden away inside the dashboard. it could be the fob is weak or you have something interfering with the fob signals, even a fob going faulty can interfere with its own signal, if you have a spare fob try the difference with that one. if you don't have a spare its best to get one as it may come in handy, it will need programing to the vehicle but it will take up 6 fobs.
