I need spark plug wire diagram!!!...please thank you..1988 v6 engine mercury cougar

Pull #1 spark plug, with key off turn engine over by lower crankshaft and get on compression top dead center. See where the rotor would line up to the ignition cap,(when mounted) that is your number one on the cap. As you crank engine over with key, see which way the rotor spins (clockwise or counterclockwise) follow the firing order in the direction it spins (1on cap to #1 cylinder next on cap to #4 ect) Hope this helps.Firing Order1-4-2-5-3-6

I need 1988 mercury cougar v6 spark plug wire diagram!!!..thank you...

If your talking about the firing order? I didn't know if you had distributor or coil pack, so here is both. I don't like using a picture to show number 1 spark plug tower, that can be misleading, with a distributor. The firing order is 142536. 25698930-jilymyi5kiq2ocx3selh3izi-3-0.jpg

I have a 1988 Mercury Cougar and for some reason even though the Ignition is off it keeps pulling down my battery

Something is grounded. It could be a wire with worn insulation or maybe a cigar lighter.
  1. Charge the battery.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Connect a 12 V test lamp between the battery cable and the negative battery post. The light should become bright.
  4. Remove fuses one at a time and see if the test light turns off. (If not replace the fuse.)
  5. Once you find out which circuit is a fault you can continue using the test lamp to isolating the bad component.
God luck.

How do I fix my horn on a 1988 cougar ls

Check your fuse. Then test for power at the horn with a voltage meter. If no power there, then check the horn relay. If there is power at the horn but it doesn't blow, then replace the horn itself.
