HOW CAN YOU TELL IF YOU HAVE A BAD WATER PUMP IN 2001 DEVILLE

Hi there A bad or worn water pump ,you will either boil the engine water system or loose water or coolant while driving and when you stopped or water [temp] light will come on when it gets down in the header tank,AND you will hear the grinding noise as soon as you start the engine and the water pump pulley will move about when running and water will start leaking . Let me know how you go.

2001 DEVILLE HAS NO LEAKS BUT RUNS HOT. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM,WATER PUMP OR THERMOSTAT.

I would change both first get a fail proof thermostat that way it would never over heat put it in and see if you got heat. if you got heat thermostat is good and water pump check your fans and make sure coolent is full make sure oil looks good you don't want to over heat that car or you will burn hea If you need further help, I’m available over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/richard_b59056c0c62ecb00

WHAT MAKES A CAR RUN HOT

It could be several things. The coolant level could be low. If this were the case the temperature would probably vary quickly depending on the RPMs of the engine and whether the car was moving or sitting at a stoplight. Another possibility is that the thermistat is defective and not opening wide enough. There could also be blockage in the radiator due to corrosion for a car that old. The radiator flush products work very well.

Lack of gas going to the motor

Could be several things. First off most vehicles have an automatic emergency shut off for the fuel if the bumper is hit somehow. Look in your owners manual for the reset location. Usually located in the trunk close to the right tail light but might be elsewhere. Fuel filter could be bad. When fuel trucks unload at a station they stir up any sediment on bottom of tank. If you fuel within 30 minutes of a delivery you might get some of this with your fuel. After this happens several times it can clog your fuel filter and it might have to be replaced. Sometimes after 100,000 miles your fuel pump can go bad. It is located inside the fuel tank and is a job for a qualified mechanic. To test if you are getting fuel to the injection system, look for a chrome rail that supplies fuel to the injectors. There will be one on both sides of the engine on top and towards the center. You will notice a stem end that looks like where you would put in air like on a tire. With key on, depress the needle in the middle quickly. Some fuel will come out if your pump is good.

PO440

http://www.obd-codes.com/p0442 P0440 indicates the failure of the EVAP system to develop proper vacuum. If you got and replaced a proper good quality gas cap, you have corrected the most common cause. However, in fully searching the causes of this code (http://engine-codes.com/p0440_chevrolet.html ) (pardon the generic GM info, but will apply for you)-----you will find there are 5 other causes of the vacuum failure, which are independent of the gas cap. Your good local mechanic can sort those out; I would save your gas cap receipt if you were advised to buy one not needed. As you probably know, your State emission test facility checks your gas cap----so that is another way to find that specific portion of this answer, (for their fee). P0300 is a generic misfire code. For this, a specific Cadillac forum may be most helpful = 2001 Deville intermittent service engine soon light code P0300 co-logo-100x100.png 2001 Deville intermittent service engine soon light code... I recently bought this car from an owner who took decent care of it but a week after i bought it, the service engine light appeared. After a few View on www.cadillacforums... Preview by Yahoo You will see that this generic code is perhaps more serious, costly, and harder to track down than the P0440. You will also discover that P0301 is cylinder 1 misfire, P0302 is cylinder 2, and etc, etc. If you get a good diagnostic, they will generally be able to localize the problem fairly specifically---and get a more specific fix. The person who reported this code was unhappy because he was given several ($$) fixes, before he got one that erased the code, and was a solution. (Be forewarned ----A generic misfire can have umpteen issues--or one! !; use your own local preferred method for solving this with a mechanic who gives you good service, and stands behind what they do.) 2001 Deville intermittent service engine soon light code P0300
