1994 honda prelude vtec speedometer tach problem
Possible speed sensor. I know the speed sensors are a problem with hondas. A new speed sensor is about $200 and can be easily replaced. It bolts to the top of the transmission on the firewall side. Do NOT buy an e-bay one. They are only about $30 but are junk
95 prelude -- dash lights for speedometer and tach are out
Just fixed this myself. I found a used USDM meter/gauge out of a 1995 SI on EBAY for $200. However, I have a VTEC engine that redlines at 7500 RPM and the SI's redlines at 6500 RPM. Easy to fix by swapping the face plates inside of the meter/gauge. If your issue is the bulbs they cost a lot... around $250 each. But if your lights went out simultaneously then the bulbs are not the issue... it's the power supply where the bulbs plug into and that's located behind the drivers dash speaker (very easy to remove with only two screws holding it in). This part is more expensive at around $350, but cheaper than buying two bulbs. Scroll through every page of honda prelude listings on EBAY and you may just get lucky like I did. Hope this helps.

94 honda prelude distributor
yes there is a small bolt or screw holding the rotor on the distributor, but you have to turn the motor over either by hand or by turing the key for just a second at a time. there is a opening on the distributor that when the shaft is turned just at the right angle, will show the bolt/screw to remove the rotor. if you have any questions, email me at

IGNITION PROBLEMS 94 PRELUDE
The ignition key cylinder and ignition switch are two different parts. Which one did you change? Your problem is the ignition switch not the key cylinder if that's what you changed.
Alternator Belt
TAKE A ROPE AND RUN IT AS IF IT WERE A BELT ALONG THE ALTERNATOR AND CRANKSHAFT. MEASURE THE LENGTH OF ROPE THEN GO TO PARTS STORE TO BUY A SMALLER BELT. THE IDEA IS TO BYPASS THE AC BEING A 94 IM SURE IT HASN'T WORKED IN QUITE SOME TIME, I'VE BEEN A MECHANIC FOR 8 YEARS AND WE BYPASS THESE ALL THE TIME, THE TENSIONER ON THAT CAR I BELIEVE IS ON THE ALTERNATOR, HONDA MADE THE AC OPTIONAL.. BELTS ARE USUALLY NAMED AFTER THERE SIZE (IE 4060934 IS 93.4 INCHES LONG) IF NEED BE REMOVE THE AC COMPRESSOR.
Oil and oil filter
Um, need a 17 mm wrench or socket to remove the drain plug under the motor and the oil filter is behind the motor almost center, but get to it from the front or maybe driver side of the car. When u remove the oil filter, make sure the old o ring was remaoved as well, can easily tell if it is by looking at the old filter, it should still be on it.
Put some old oil on the new filter o ring to make sure it doesn't kink when u install it. To tighten the filter, screw it by hand until it' s snug, then give about half a turn more.
Engine should need about 3.7 litres or less to be full. So put 3 litres in it, start car for about 10 seconds and turn it off. Verify oil level and top up as necessary.
Good luck
1994 honda prelude si belts system
Some are tough to get on, but if you're bottoming out the tensioner then double check to see if you have the right belt. If it's one of those "this is the belt the guy at the auto parts store said" situations, then take it back, grab a different guy or gal, and have them pull another belt to compare.

Hi
So the new fuse blows up straight away?
you cant check the wire like you are doing.
Check with multi meter for continuity. then you will find the problem.
You can put slight bigger fuse and see if that solve the problem.
Not finding what you are looking for?
