use a thread tap and a new bolt when threads are cleaned

When you installed the rack and pinion did you centre it on its range of travel.This is the only thing I can think of. good luck

1989 look at tranny , see the stick leaving the tranny case>? its there. now follow that, and bingo.

You have a small oil leak. Look underneith the car for the general location of the leak. Over time your oil lvl will drop, guarenteed.
