Replaced starter and battery of 99 mercury sable

I'm assuming the vehicle isn't turning over at all as I answer your question. If this is the case there are a couple of things that could easily be causing this. In the power distribution box located under the hood of the vehicle in the engine comartment (picture below of its location below) are a few things that you can check. Also below is a picture of the layout of fuses and relays by number. I would check the fuse in the number 3 position. This should be a 40 amp "maxi" fuse which is for your ignition switch and starter relay. In the number 24 position is the starter relay itself. You may also want to check if the others are good the number 5 fuse which is also a 40 amp "maxi" fuse which is for your ignition switch. Last you may want to check the solenoid itself. If you have a test light you can get under there and while someone is turning the key as if to start the car, make sure you are getting full power to the starter. I don't have a wiring diagram handy but if all that is good there may be a fuseable link somewhere in the wiring if not getting power down there. Now if any of these happen to be "blown" you may have other problems but Ford starters demand alot of amperage and voltage for there starters so replacing just may take care of it. The bad thing is that may have been the problem to start with and you bought a new starter and battery for no reason but at least the car may be running. I hope this helps you and good luck.

99 mercury sable drivers seat belt not staying latched

Many manufacturers suggest that seat belts be replaced after a certain time, and many belts do go faulty. They do cost a bit of cash, but you have to weigh up cost against your life. Replace a faulty belt, the sooner the better.

Whats making my 1999 mercury sable make a loud roaring sound while driving? and sometimes it stalls when stopping or slowing down.

Used tires sometimes are used for a reason. Also make sure your brakes are releasing completely (especially the emergency brake)...sometimes over-tightening wheels on to the disc brakes can cause excessive noise.

How to remove a power steering pressure hose on a 1999 Mercury Sable

You have to discon the battery cable before you start. Remove the coolant expansion tank. Remove the drivebelt and alternator if you have an OHV V6. Raise the vehicle on jack stands. Place a drain pan below the pump. From below, remove the splash shield and discon any brackets or ties that hold the hose to the body. After draining, you may have to replace the pwr steering fluid filter, located in the fluid line, then replace the fluid. A crows-foot wrench may be necessary to remove some hose fittings. This is a job for a mechanic with a power lift to be honest. Whatever you do, be careful not to contaminate the power steering fluid. Bleed the system after replacing the hose. The pressure hose is held in place by threads and not a clamp as the other hose has. Get yourself the Haynes repair manual 36075 '96 thru 2005 Ford Taurus & Merc Sable. It has a detailed step by step description of this procedure. Good Luck

EGR Valve not working

EGR Valve Testing
  1. Install a tachometer on the engine, following the manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Detach the engine wiring harness connector from the Idle Air Control (IAC) solenoid.
  3. Disconnect and plug the vacuum supply hose from the EGR valve.
  4. Start the engine, then apply the parking brake, block the rear wheels and position the transmission in Neutral.
  5. Observe and note the idle speed.
If the engine will not idle with the IAC solenoid disconnected, provide an air bypass to the engine by slightly opening the throttle plate or by creating an intake vacuum leak. Do not allow the idle speed to exceed typical idle rpm.
Using a hand-held vacuum pump, slowly apply 5-10 in. Hg (17-34 kPa) of vacuum to the EGR valve nipple.
  1. If the idle speed drops more than 100 rpm with the vacuum applied and returns to normal after the vacuum is removed, the EGR valve is OK.
  2. If the idle speed does not drop more than 100 rpm with the vacuum applied and return to normal after the vacuum is removed, inspect the EGR valve for a blockage; clean it if a blockage is found. Replace the EGR valve if no blockage is found, or if cleaning the valve does not remedy the malfunction.
