Starter is out I need to tow it to shop. how do get it to shift into neutral

I'm no authority on Honda's but will the shifter not move when you put the key to the run position (not to the start position) and put your foot on the brake? We did this all the time in the shop to move cars around that wouldn't run. If not you may very well have to get the car floated to your shop. just a thought, good luck

Does a starter go bad suddenly

Yes starters can quit at anytime. Some last for years others only days. The starter for a 99 accord is around a $100 and not hard to change. Remove the battery, air intake, heater hose and distributor cap an your there. Beauthemechanic has a good YouTube about it.

1999 honda accord wont start no sound not cranking battery good

I am assuming that this is a four cylinder automatic--- There is a neutral safety switch on your automatic shifter- Make sure that your shifter is all the way into park , You can unlock your shifter with your key or some like object, take it to neutral and then back to park! 2. check your starter connection to the battery, if loose or corroded clean and tighten. I don't know what level of mechanical you are but at this point take a screwdriver and cross the posts, it will spark so don't freak out. If your connection is good it should turn the engine if it does not engage or at least try then it could be a starter solenoid or if it clicks could be a starter. Now if you do this with the key on, the car might start, again don't freak out!! 3. Now there are also fuses in the starting system check you fuses 4. The worst case scenario would be a locked-up engine. Have you or do you know if the timing belt has been changed? If it broke, it could have taken out the top end of the engine ( valves, rods , cam , possible even the rods! like I said this is the worse case scenario! Hope this helps

Engine light on dash stays on.

There are two lights you may be getting confused. There is the check engine light and the maintanence required light. The maint req. light can be manually reset by holding down the trip meter button then turning your ignition key forward. You have to hold the button down until the light goes away.
If it is the check engine light you should run a daignostic check for the listed codes.

Is there a map sensor on a 1992 honda accord

Hard to diagnose over a computer with out the proper technical data, or specs, or more info, but erratic idling could be due to a number of things, from, bad plugs/incorrectly gaped spark plugs, bad knock sensor, bad fuel/contaminated fuel/dirty fuel filter, clogged or partially clogged injector(s), loose belt/bad pulley, faulty computer, dirty air filter, bad O2 sensor(s). I've worked on Honda's since 1984, they do have a MAP sensor, they were normally located on the upper manifold towards the front on some older models, on newer models they are normally on the front-side of the manifold right around the belts and pulley's, on some they are underneath the front plastic covering that covers the water pump, sprockets and most of the front of the motor so you wont see it. The link below is NOT To sell you any parts, it's to show you what one looks like so you may find it on your engine.
