At 170,000 the odometer got stuck &I reset the trip meter & after 9 miles it stopped completely. I tried resetting but NO luck. What can I do???

If the speedometer still works, you'll probably have to replace the cluster. Chances are a gear broke inside the odometer.

'96 Honda Accord battery dies

Definitely start unhooking you negative terminal at night, so you don't prematurely ruin the battery from all this discharging. If you don't have a clamp on current meter, which would be easiest to use to find the draw, you can place a multimeter on the terminals of the battery, and look at the voltage. Start unplugging fuses, and when you see the voltage rise, you will know what circuit the draw is coming from.

The battery was installed backwards on 96 Honda Accord, now there is No power what so ever. Help!

Ecm should be ok. Look for blown fusable link in fuse box near battery. Should look like a metal strip held in place with 2 small bolts if I remember correctly

What could be stopping my car from starting

How many miles on the car? Does it turn over? Does it turn over extremely fast? Have you verified you have gas and spark? Not sure what engine. With very little to go on, there are too many answers, but since you put in a new battery and starter, maybe it doesn't turn over at all. If the car won't even turn over, but the guages and lights seem to function, you may have a broken timing belt. The engines in 1996 were 0 tolerance engines, which means if the timing belt breaks, the piston wil come up and make contact with the valves. Verify the timing belt is still intact. Otherwise, we really will need more information to be more precise. Sorry.

F22a engine produces strange noise most obvious at 2000 rpm, what could the problem be?

Without a general description of what the noice sounds like, squeal as compared to knocking, it is impossible to help you. Engines make a lot of different noises, so try and help by describing noise. I would suspect it is belt related, or tension pulley related as these are RPM variable noises, belts tend to slip when you accelerate and can be quite loud with a serpentine belt as example. How do I clean a stopped up water jacket in my 96 Honda accord?

If it isn't leaking externally, then it has to be internal, most likely a blown headgasket.

My Honda accord (+200 000 miles) starts with no problems in the morning but then if you turn it off after driving for while it wont start and wont crank, any ideas?

If the humming noise is more like a whirring sound, you have a bad starter-motor solonoid or "bendix." First - open the hood and have one of you listen while the other tries the starter. If the starter motor makes a whirring sound but nothing else happens, it is certainly the "bendix." The same switch that turns the motor on, also engages an electro-magnet (the bendix) that throws the starter motor gear out and engages the teeth in the motors flywheel thus allowing the electric starter motor to turn the engine over. When the engine starts, it spins the starter motor fast enough that it mechanically throws the starter gear back into the starter even before you release the starter and disengage the magnet. OK - now that you know what it is, what do you do about it. While the bendix can sometimes be cleaned and work a while longer, sometimes a really long time longer, it is seldom worth the effort to remove the starter mechanism, take it apart, clean and lubricate (with the proper lubricants) and re-install just to see if that will work. Usually, the best solution is a new or rebuilt starter. You can get one on Amazon, Autozone, NAPA, etc. and the price will likely vary a lot. You can get one from the dealer as well but it may cost more than the car (some exaggeration). Check prices - they vary a lot, sometimes by as much as 2-3x. I think the original starter motor on your car is a Denso, but there are lots of good aftermarket starters available. Starters are pretty easy to change. I suggest looking on youtube. Just make absolutely sure you disconnect your battery before starting this. Changing the starter motor (the bendix is attached and comes with a rebuilt one) takes about 30 minutes or so on that car. Basically, you disconnect the wires, unbolt the old one, slide it out, slide in the new one, bolt in in, and reconnect the wires. - then reconnect the battery and start the car. Good luck.
