I replaced my A/C compressor

First of all if the wiring burnt up there is a definate short in that cicuit, and by the sounds of it your clutch on the a/c compressor , or the compressor itself locked up, first with engine off can you hand turn the a/c compressor and clutch? if no that is your main problem that may have come about from not enough freon+ oil charge in the air conditioning system when the compressor was last replaced.
If all checks ok then perhaps you had a short in the a/c cutoff relay. not allowing the com[pressor clutch to disengage and kept the compressor over working until it heated up the harness supplying the a/c compressor and cut off relay.
First the wiring harness needed can be located at www.globalspec.com,
there you should beable to locate what you need as far as the a/c cut off relay goes try you local foreign auto parts store for this as it may have been the cause of the wiring flare up, you cant determine once something is smoked...you need to restart everything from scratch.

Hello , I've a Volvo 940 1995 with a b200ft

Black smoke points to unburnt fuel. I would start by replacing the spark plugs and wires if you have not done so in the last couple of years.

I need brake lights

Im not sure about that year make and model but usually there is a censer on the brake peddle next to the fire wall, that may have gone bad. but check the simplest thing first, if the fuse hasn't been changed in a whyle, go ahead and change it. Thair may also be fuses in the engine compartment as well.

1995 Volvo 940. High brake light does not work.

Hi there
you might be able to fix this problem by removing the orange colored sensor (from the relay box) to diagnose it.also make sure to see if the pins have invisible non-conductive corrosion on them
in other words sand the pins.lightly Then see if all of the brake lights work.ok just sand the pins and replace the sensor.if needed: refer to the owners manual for the location
also your local autozone or the dealership will be able to give you a online diagram for the wiring for this too ok?
best regards michael
