Car wouldnt start yesterday jumped
Once the engine is running the alternator takes over to keep it running while sending a chrge back into the battery to make sure the battery is charged back up enough to start the engine the next time. If the car continued to run for a while after you jumped it, it may not be the alternator.
If you can get it jumped again, let it run for 10 minutes or so, if it continues to run, it's not the alternator, but more likely an issue with the battery.
If the car is running okay once it's started, you may want to go to a local parts store and have them check the battery and alternator with a diagnostic system. Most of them do not charge for this test.
I hope this helps.

Hi,
you certainly have a problem. There were only a few manufacturers fitting 'free-wheeling' engines. I believe the Chrysler Acclaim series were the last to do so. Volvo 850 were not members of that club.

I bought a 1995 volvo 850 tubo and the dash lights
I have the same problem. I found out that the dimmer /rheostat is not working. If you know where the dimmer switch is located, take it out using a small screw driver. After taking it out you will see there are color coded wirings, brown for voltage supply, black for ground dimmer, white supply voltage with headlights, pink output voltage and white/black for grounds with headlights. I jumpered the brown wire to pink wire and put everything back.

My 850 fan do not come on when the engine is hot .
The switch may just be the problem. Before replacing test the pcm to ensure the switch is getting a turn on signal, then test themostat to ensue flow past the switch. Also consider environment.

I have spark at the coil going to the
CKP. Cam Position Sensor. Needs crank and cam sensor signal to work. Need codes pulled at diagnostic port on front fender.
Google 'Volvo Code pulling'' or similar, for sites explaining how to pull codes without a scanner.
The sensor in the bell housing goes bad too.

1995 volvo 850 I need to fuel up and I cant find
Should be a button or lever either under the left side of your seat, or by your light knob. push button or pull lever, if door does not open then you have either a broken/stretched cable (if you have a pull lever type release) or most likely a frozen (as in not moving, not literally) gas door lock. Hope this helps!

What to check if a
Are you getting absolutely no gas? If so then Id check the fuel pump fuse/relay. See if your getting power. If you are see if your getting a ground to the fuel pump. If your getting low pressure then a restriction such as a clogged fuel filter or kinked line could do it. Inspect your fuel lines physically, and take the hose off from the rear of the fuel filter and see if gas comes out with the key in position 2. If you get nothing then you definitely have a pump issue. A common fault with these cars is the relay overexcites the pump and eventually burns it out. Replace the fuel pump relay as well if you find the pump faulty.

Hi,
Yes, you could replace the antennae rod only! You could order it from your dealer parts center and have them replace it.
Thats much cheaper than buying the whole power antenae assembly.
Hope that solves your reception!
Thanks for using Fixya!

The arrow symbol brinks continously
You will have to get the vehicle scanned to find out what is wrong. The vehicle won't accelerate properly because the transmission control unit has gone into limp home mode (this is to protect the transmission from any further damage). When the trans goes into limp home mode, it goes into high gear and stays there when moving. There will not be any kickdown mode either.
