2000 Lexus RX300 6cyl 3L VVT-i "Engine Codes"!

The engine light was on so I checked and got the following codes:
P1130, P0171, P0300, P0301, P0303, P0305.
I cleared all of them. Next day the engine light is on again with these codes: P0171, P1130, P1150, P0136.
Does anyone know what the problem would be? Please email me. Thanks!

Regards; A.G.

The first and last code are your start and stop so you can ignore them the P1130 and P1150 are your two front oxygen sensors( pre cats ) bank one and two. Depending on your millage it sounds like it is time for a little maintence. Normally they should be changed at or around 60,000 kms

Fuel Fill Problem-Lexus RX300

I own a 1999 Lexus RX300 which I bought new. Recently, when filling the tank with fuel, the nozzle shuts off unless I go very, very slow. It takes over ten minutes to complete a fill. Nothing has ever gotten into the tank that I am aware of, however, I can see a small pipe sticking into the side of the filler neck (which may be a vent return line) about four inches down into the neck which appears to have the end deformed from the end of the filler nozzle bumping it. This small line protruding into the neck is about 1/4" to 3/8" O.D.

Is this fuel-fill problem common to the Lexus RX300? Is this small line part of the vent system? Could the deformation of this line be causing the problem? Can the filler spout be removed for inspection without removing the tank? How does one gain access to the problem area?

My Lexus dealer estimated it may take $2000.0 to fix this problem and did'nt even suggest the possibility of a restriction causing this problem!

Hi

Yes....this does sound like a kinked or restricted vent pipe.

Has it been like this, since you bought the car ?

Did you mention this whilst still under warranty ?

Have you ever had any accident damage or repairs in this vicinity of the vehicle ?

I suggest you go back to your main dealer and try to get this rectified under warranty, as this is a potentially hazardous, and dangerous fire problem.

Due to the temptation not to fit the pump nozzle fully in to the tank spout, to speed up the filling procedure.
And possibly then a blow-back of fuel, over yourself, and then the fire risk.

Lexus normally have a very high standard to maintain, especially where safety is concerned.

Get an appointment with the service manager, and do not be fobbed off.

$2OOO. sounds a ridiculous cost to rectify this problem.

Let me know your thoughts?

A FixYa rating would be appreciated.... Thank you !

Good Luck !

John.

HOW MANY LITERS OIL NEEDS LEXUS RX300 2001?

HOW MANY LITERS OIL NEEDS LEXUS RX300 2001?

You need 5 quarts in the Lexus RX300. Beware, the RX300 has a history of engine sludge problems (just search the internet for Toyota engine sludge). I would recommend Mobil 1 (this is FULL synthetic) and for viscosity I would recommend 5w-30 in the winter and 10w-30 in the summer. Your manual will verify the viscosity that I have mentioned. You must use good engine oil with this vehicle or else you will have an engine sludge problem and this could cost you a new engine. The RX300 is a wonderful vehicle and very reliable, but it requires some care that you must give it or else it will cost you a lot of money and maybe leave you stranded. For instance, change the oil regularly (no more than 4000 mile intervals) and also change the transmission fluid (no more than 60000 mile intervals). Search online for transmission failures in the RX300 - you'll find that the people who did not get a transmission flush were very sorry!!

Remove 3 - 4 screws on fender cover close to side marker light. Pull fender cover out a bit for you to use your other hand to reach side marker light. By twisting on one direction and here you go the light out. Replace new bulb and replace everything on reverse order.

Transfer and Differential oil change for RX300

I have a question regarding my front-wheel drive Lexus RX300 (2001). Does it require transfer oil and differential oil change, meaning does it have provision for this. It is confusing that some places it says it does not require change of these separetely with Hypoid gear oil APL GL-5, and it is only required for all wheel dfrive vehicles.

If my Front Wheel Drive RX300 require these (tranfer and differential) fluids (hypoid APL GL-5) then where are they located in the car. Please also let me know if my car will need any limited-slip differential oil, and if so where it is located in the car.

Will appreciate your reply on this. Thanks in advance.

your front wheel drive rx300 doesnt use gear oil, the differential is lubricated internally by transmission fluid. the trans fluid is only reccomended if its dirty. if its a dark brownish red thats normal. or if its pinkish red then its new. if its black or yellow then time to flush it out. if you decide to change the trans fluid I believe the spec is 3qts. check it with the engine running and cold. thats the most accurate way to check it.

Try to find your solution here, from Germany Lexus Owners:

QUOTE
I justreplaced my door lock actuator on my 2003 Lexus RX300. A rather comprehensive set of instructions for removal of the door panel can be found at: clublexus.com door+panel+removal

To remove the door handle trim: after removing the screw in the door handle trim, pry (I use a painters 5 in 1 tool) the trim piece outwardsfrom the rear of the door panel at both the top and bottom of the trim piece. This will release the two small rear clips. Then push the trim forward to release the main clip located on the back side the handle trim piece

As the least expensive OEM replacement door lock actuator for Lexus RX300 is $230 or more, I opted for the $15 replacement option as outlined below: us.lexusownersclub.com/forums

Keep in mind that this job outlined above is a bit on the technical side.If you aren't that talented, spend the money and order a OEM Lexus replacement latch actuator and do the installation as the OEM latch assembly is not repairable.

Viel Gluck (good luck in German)
END QUOTE

I hope helps with this. Good luck.

I have the same problem..... took my 2000 RX300 to the dealer - was told they need to replace the motor and the tracks and quoted me a price of $4500.00...... NO THANK YOU.... This dealer will not sell parts for this to local garages. Can't believe they can get away with that. Since I don't really us it a mechanic told me to take it to a glass company and just have them seal it closed to stop leaks.
