You may have to replace the air bag unit; it's getting quite old. Also, if it uses a Takata igniter, and it almost certainly does, there is a recall out on many of the older ones. They have a nasty way of absorbing water from the air and then bursting in an accident (steam-enhanced explosion) and throwing shrapnel at the passenger or driver. There have been serious injuries and deaths from igniter bursts. Look at the VIN plate through the windshield (it's on the top of the dashboard on the driver's side). There is a fuse panel under the hood,,on the right side.. behind the battery.. under the black lid.. be careful ..Honda CRV is NOTORIOUS for bad A/C SYSTEMS!!! If you need work,, get SEVERAL OPINIONS!!

Check engine light is the message the computer is sending meaning that there is something wrong somewhere in the system. A code reader would help you.
