i have a problem in idling with my honda civic lxi 1999 whenever my ac turns on, my rpm goes down to 600 i already clean the IAC but still the same problem. please help. thanks
Hi,
To my knowledge (at least in my country), some Honda Civics have a compensator solenoid the pushes on the throttle that adjust the engine's RPM to its standard idling when the A/C compressor is activated. Technically, this solenoid is nothing more but a coil and a plunger. When the compressor runs, the same relay activates this solenoid and pushes the plunger forward increasing the RPM. Pls check/clean/adjust/replace as deemed fit and necessary.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

We got a code from Autozone saying, random cylinder misfire detecte, Probable cause blocked EGR passage, Valve clearance out of range.
Pull vacuum on egr valve with engine idling and see if engine stumbles and tries to die until vacuum is released. If this DOES NOT happen the egr exhaust passage is plugged will need to remove egr valve assembly and remove carbon from passage into cylinder head.

where is diagnostic plug on a 1999 honda civic 1.5ls looked everywhere can,t find it
Fig. The 16-pin DLC connector is standard on all OBD-II compliant vehicles .
OBD-II SYSTEMS
The 16-pin On Board Diagnostic version II (OBD-II) compliant Data Link Connector (DLC) is used to access the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) using an OBD-II compliant Data Scan Tool (DST). It is an electrical connector with a gray housing located under the dash near the center console, on the passenger side of the vehicle.
The two wire electrical connector with a blue housing next to the DLC is the Service Check Connector (SCS).

99 Honda civic 1.6 engine torque specs and sequences for cylinder head
Tighten the cylinder head bolts to their final torque
specification in two steps. Use a crisscross sequence starting with the
bolts at the middle of the head and working toward the outer bolts.

you switch the ignition on the fuel pump works as should, on cranking their is no injector pulse and the ignition spark only last for about 3 seconds. the engine management light comes on then goes out after a few seconds, the green key light comes on and goes out none of them come on when cranking, any help will be very much appreciated cheers Steve.
the eCU never injects if it ever thinks there is bad spark or spark precursors (ckp/cmp sensors)
and hark tells you, with the scan tool just that. ever used a scan tool>
real>? in your case this is true, (3 second dropP
here are the correct steps.
1: fuses good.
2: key on, immoblizer lamp out. (got that? option?)
3: CEL , Charge and brake warning lamps all on, if CEL is out the ECU is dead. CEL means Check engine light ( aka: MIL or SES)
4: plug in scan tool to 16pin port (USA cars, i dont do non usa cars)
and the obd2 scan tool comunicates and works, if not , pin 16 fuse is blown to 16pin DLC connnector. if Scan tool works. and you see
the TPS move with right foot action then crank car for 5seconds.
the ECU will show RPM work. 250?
then may throw 2 DTC'S or more.
P0340./355 etc, telling you why it cut the main relay, and all injections.
The ECU is amazing, this way,
the ECU can also see primary spark bad, and show that
i can not see , secondary spark bad. (until running and that is called misfire)
get the scan tool they rent cheap or free.
in USA.
if not in the USA all comments here are useless.
other countries use OBD1 or other protocoals.
known exactly what engine your car counts big time.
as EFI varies greatly by this.
D16y5,7,8? B16A2? both are 1.6L
15 D engines
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_D_engine
and
lots of B16s seen here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_B_engine#B16A2
first know what engine,
then get the FSM and learn what makes it happy.
each engine can have unique spark systems. (3 possible world wide)
distributor.
wasted spark, coil. 2 dual coil packs.?
COPS, 4 cops on top plugs?
each has unique troubleshooting techniques.
ask.
