If it is white smoke maybe cooling system engine overheating and the engine shutting down.Check fluids oil antifreeze make sure there clean an check for leaks or loss of fluid.

You need to figure out if this is a fuel or electrical issue. When in failure mode will it restart immediately or must you wait some? Could be as simple as bad gas cap or as complex as some electrical failure. When failed do you still get spark to plugs? Does it smell as if it was running lean?

check with the local BBB and the chamber of commerce or go to dealer

Have ignition module tested.

Common failure, parts are cheap from Honda. Remove the philips head screw, the assembly pulls up.
