Ask a caddy dealer parts guy to tell you what type of suspension you have.
www.strutmasters.com sells conversion kits but you have a 500 dollar car there and how much are you going to spend on it. it will still be worth 500 dollars after you replace the entire suspension.

Is it struck in third gear or does it stay in low?If it is stuck in third that means that it is limp mode and has a hard diagnostic code stored in the computer .Probaly a bad sensor .If starts out in low gear and never makes the 1-2 shift it could be that the 2nd clutches are not holding or that the computer is not getting a vehicle speed sensor signal and does not know the vehicle is moving. It waould pay to have a diagnostic run and not just throw parts at it.I am sure there is some sort of code stored and if I knew what it is I could most likely tell you what is wrong. There is no way to guess.Let me know if i can help.
Car is in park on incline, and will not start.
There is a neutral safety switch to make sure car is neutral. If that switch went bad or becase your parked on incline the switch is not made up because car rolled back when you put it in park.If you can depending on the situation, put key in ignition, turn key till one click before it starts, apply emergency brake, depress regular brakes and shift car from park to drive then back to park.then turn off key and restart. If for some reason you try to shift out of park and it wont move you need to roll car a little forward or backward(have someone else do the pushing and be carefull not to put anyone in a pinch point between another car if this car is parked between two cars)With older cars this is usally the case.If this fixes your problem i would have a mechanic change switch because this will probrobly happen again.Be carefull.......
Add coolant?
You always want to have the right amount of coolant in your car. If it runs hot, it could cause major problems. I can't hurt to add it.

Not sure if you have a 1996 Cadillac Seville or a 1998 Olds Aurora but I would check the Ignition Coil Packs. One or more of them may need to be replaced. Also if you were working on the car and got the wires plugged onto the wrong coils then the firing order sequence would not be correct and this can cause a misfire or backfire conditon.
Ignition wires cannot rest near the primary wire harness of the ignition module, which can cause electrical interference and a no start condition or a misfire condition
On my friends 1997 Cadillac Seville it was easy to replace all 4 coil packs took less than 30 minutes and made the car run much better. Just make sure to get the firing order right. If necessary find a diagram of the correct firing order for you vehicle.
A good place for mail order auto parts is rockauto.com
I have pasted a picture below of what an ignition coil pack looks like

The vacuum diagram below may help you identify the part, you can also use the link below to view more information and see a larger version of the diagram image. I doubt that removing the cover has any effect on engine performance. There are several vacuum system valves on your engine so it would be difficult to give advice without knowing which specific valve you are referring to. Hope this helps.

I had a similar problem with an older corvette. It was the chip & reader on the key & ignition. It would fail me at the worst times! A new key & sensor did help but it was kinda pricey for what i got. Also check to see if your fuel pump is working properly. Locate the schraeder valve on the fuel rail (looks like a tire valve), turn your ignition on but dont crank. Push the centre of the valve in & see if any fuel squirts out. if yes, ur good, if very little then ur pump is being a Btch. The security feature usually triggers the ignition, not the fuel pump... This is a simple "no tools" procedure. Using the proper analytical gadgets will give u much more info...
I have a draw on my battery that read .4 amps when
As a rule, .1 Amps or .2 Amps max is acceptable for the car being off.
Remember that batteries last only 3 years on average, which might explain why you had to jump the car occasionally.
I think that it was clever of you to pull fuses one by one until the multimeter read lower reading.
Wiring harnesses can look like spaghetti so if the car has a short in the system, maybe taking the vehicle to an auto electric shop would aid in diagnosing the problem if the owner has trouble finding the source of the excessive draw.
Good luck on this repair.
