These transmissions are not difficult to fix as long as you are meticulous in cleaning and replacing EVERY o-ring and seal.A general mechanic would most likely not understand the importance of this or have the knowledge of honda automatics to repair it successfuly. If he charged you to fix it and it is not then is his problem till he refunds your money or makes it right.I always replace the torque converter and instal a new cooler so i know there is no remaining trash from the original failure in the system. Flushing the original cooler is dam near impossible. The filter is internal and just a little trash will restrict it and cause all kinds of bad symptoms especially when it is cold and the fluid is thicker.Without knowing the 4 digit code on the trans it is hard to get more specific on the source of your problem.

Prelude 2.2 vti W reg auto automatic tiptronic gearbox slipping
Hi there. Although the Dealer has changed the oil, did they do a 'Stall Test' whilst the gearbox was cold and again when at normal running temperture? If not, that's what they must do firstly. This will identify whether you have a slipping clutch/s. The Honda autobox also includes what is known as accumulators - these control how each clutch is engaged during acceleration. For example, if you are accelerating slighly/smoothly, you want each gear to be engaged gently and smoothly, whereas, when accelerating hard, you need the gear engaged quickly and hard to aviod clutch slippage. Thus, the fact that you are experiencing a hard engagement might mean that an accumulator/s is seized. If that's the case, it will mean that the autobox will need stripping, cleaning and be checked for worn components. Hope this helps, Scottech.
Transmission light
Hi there
Firstly, you need to locate the Autobox ECU and identify whether a fault code is showing. This will more accurately determine where the fault is where the Honda Dealer will be best placed to advice you accordingly. Best regards, Scottech.

check fuel pump.
turn the key to on so the dash lights come on but don't start it, do you hear the pump energize? if you are unsure, have someone get down by the tank and listen. if it's not running, the fuse or the relay could be bad. and possibly the pump
How do i put in the code for a 1995 honda prelude
Check in your owner's manual packet. In my Audi, there was a
supplemental guidebook for the audio system, and the security code was
on a card in that packet. If it's not in there, you can go to the
dealership with the car to get it - they can look it up based on the
VIN of the vehicle.
You'll need the title to the vehicle (to
prove it's your car), photo ID (to match you to the name on the title),
and the car itself. The dealer will then put the code in for you (make
sure they give you the code written down, and show you how to enter it
for the next time you need it). The downside to this is that they'll
probably charge you labor for doing this.
Have put another motor in our prelude and we have
yes it could but before you replace the ecm or computer module check to make sure you are getting power to the computer it could be in the system between the ignition switch and the computer do you have the manual for it ? if not go to auto zone.com and look it up it should give a wiring diagram for your car also was this new engine out of another car? if so you may need to go back to where you got it and get the computer from that car they vary depending on options and features. reply to

Engine idles up and down afterstart up
I had this exact same problem when i had RX7's. The rotary mechanic that is how the engine is designed. The is a screw underneath a rubber cap on your air intake. That screw is your needle. You can raise or lower your Idle to suit the driving conditions.
Tiptronic engage/disengage when hot
You clutch packs have worn out and the not shifting properly when hot confirms this, you may check transmission line pressure, hopefully I am wrong but most likely you need a total transmission rebuild. and a front wheel drive automatic is the most expensive rebuild out there.
