Timing belt needs to be changed
would suggest to go to auto parts store and purchase a repair manual on vehichle. They have detailed and informative instruction on doing this. Then you have answers to fix other things to and it will allways be there for you.

Cam belt Snapped Honda prelude F22b 2.2 si Auto
did you continue to crank it to start ?
did you hear anything other than usual starter noise ?
you may have gotten lucky if no clanking or clicking noise ---don't try to start it again though
and that is timing belt not camshaft
for future knowledge when considering a vehicle for purchase ---ASK or find out if it's what's called an interference motor or the non interference design ---if you snap the belt on an interference design
alot of twin cams are --but I see a trend from automakers to get away from this --which they should
then albeit some or even major damage can occur ---the 91's civics 1,6 Single over head cam is a non interfernce design --now 1989 or 1992 on well that's another matter
I love my wifes 1991 civic dx ---to date only things ever to fail was the distributor and the timing belt and tensioner ---ps --think about replacing the water pump --front crankshaft seal as well while
you are in there replacing the timing belt ---do a coolant leak down test too --= 5 minutes
to check intake gaskets etc and head gasket --opportune time for a replacement
Yoy can buy the entire engine gasket set generally cheaper that a few individual one and keep
the others for future or give them to a new owner Someday --good 1 st cars --they are capable of 250,000 + easy ---key to longevity ---add an oil cooler with cooling fan set at the right temp with
fan --even better if you live in the mtns like I do

I just bought a 1992 honda prelude, what kind of coolant do i use
50/50 ratio of regular Anti-freeze. Prestone is pretty popular. also consider getting your coolant flushed and filled instead....chances are it hasn't been done anytime before you bought it. it will prevent headaches and save your engine as well. One over heat situation and its likely your engine will be turned into garbage.Heat kills engines.

well the cheapest way would be to do it yourself, if you dont have a service manual for your car go to advance auto and and find it then look up how to do it (write it down or something) then put it back on the shelf and make sure you understand it, and then get the parts and tools you need (some sockets and screwdrivers will work) fix it on a nice day.
or if you dont understand how to do it then call up the shop you use and ask them how much, if i were to guess off the top of my head i would say around 400 or 500 dollars

Honda prelude code 16 trans
I took a look around online & found a website.
Per site says Code 16 is a Fuel Injector & 23 is a Knock Sensor.
These codes and page references pertain to the Helm Service Manual. You can obtain a helm manual from
Helm Inc.

Does a honda prelude have main crank shells
Hello,
The engine described has Crank shells but is is more likely to be the big end (Con Rod) shell or shells worn.
If the vehicle is driven with this fault it may throw a leg out the bed i.e. Snap the con rod sending the other half through the crankcase there by completely totalling the bottom half of the engine.

1992 Honda Prelude Timing Belt Diagram
There's no such thing as a timing belt diagram.
Do you mean to say the "Procedure" for changing a timing belt in a 92 Prelude?
By asking such a question I can only interpret it as a clear indication that you've never changed a timing belt before.
If this is true, then you don't want to start out or practice on your own car.
Get the car to a pro and have the job done right.
If not true (and you've changed timing belt's in the past)
Then give me the engine size and I'll post the:
"PROCEDURE" for changing the belt in a few hours.

The light on the dashboard get's dim
Im not sure this will help, but theres a nob by your dashboard to turn the light (brightness) for the dash.and as far as the gear shifter the plastic plate pops off and you can see if the bulb is good

92 prelude
Haha no prob man. Just try following those steps, to tell you the truth most of my automotive backgound is based off my lifted jeep cherokee...my gf's car is the first import i've even cared to look at (with everything being so crammed together)...but if some 20 year old punk kid can do it, im sure you can too. Let me know how it turns out, I'm really interested to find out if this is way more of a common prob. then I thought. Cheers,
Ed
