Prevents costly IF none of these products work I would recommend cleaning off the lower half of your engine with some brakleen and checking to see how quickly it leaks. Most crankcase leaks do not leak as much as they seep. If it is seeping or has a slow leak you can clean the crankcase at oil change and you will probably not have any oil dripping from the underside of your car. If that is the case that small of a leak in my opinion doesn't warrant resealing the crankcase. If you do have a major leak and need to reseal the crankcase, you do not need to remove the engine. You do however have to remove the transmission and the cradle and hang the motor with a fixture. When resealing the crankcase, for best results use factory gasket sets and make sure all surfaces are very clean and and do not have any nicks or scratches. also use an anaerobic sealer in addition to the rubber gaskets, and make sure to properly torque all fasteners. As for everyones oil consumption complaints all Northstars will burn some oil. GM says up to 1 quart per thousand miles is acceptable. If you are using multiple quarts between oil changes you may consider performing or having the dealership perform a top engine clean. This will loosen the carbon from the top end of the motor and help free up sticking piston rings. The Northstar motor runs hot and has a tendency to pruduce a lot of carbon. In addition to this using an in tank injector cleaner will help the motor stay cleaner and burn less oil. Another common carbon problem will be in your throttle body. If you feel the accelerator pedal beginning to stick you should check the throttle plate and throttle bore for sticky carbon build up. It is easily cleaned out with some carb cleaner and a tooth brush. Hope that helps. Good luck,

Light could be burned out. Always check to see that the light comes on when you buy a used car because sometimes people will do that to hide the fact that the light is on

It's accessed thru the trunk, under the trim : you undo the top nut, unbolt the bottom strut bolt and it just slides out. It looks like this

have you checked that battery? it seems that it may need replace it might not be keeping a charge, the connectors to the battery could also possibly be corroded as well, which could caue connection problems, i had the sam problem with my old car and it turned out to just be the connection from the cables to the battery due to bolts needing to be tightend or corrosion.

Have it done at a shop such as Midas or CarX since they know what they are doing The cost should be at least half of what a Cadillac dealership charges..You will need to call around for labor rates fluxuates in all parts of the United States you know. My area can charge from $120 to $235 per hour in the Chicagoland area

there could be a sensor on the trunk that alerts you that the trunk is open that has come loose & needs to be adjusted or it could be faulty & needs to be replaced......hope this helps......cheers.

Sounds like the front of the radiator or A/C condenser is clogged up...take a water hose and try to clean any debre from the front, so air can pass freely...

For a battery to go dead on you like that there must be something draining the battery while the vehicle is switched off. It could be something like a trunk light which is not switching off or a short across some circuit that does not show up on any light. The first and easiest test is to disconnect the battery negative cable whenever you park the vehicle overnight etc. and see if the battery still runs down.
As a more positive step and if this does not affect the alarm, disconnect the positive lead from the battery and wire a bulb like a tail light bulb, between the terminal and the removed lead. The bulb should light up. Make sure that everything on the vehicle is switched off, the bulb should still be lit. Remove and replace the fuses one by one until the bulb goes out. That is the circuit that is running your battery flat. Check all the components on that circuit until you get the light to stay out and your problem should be fixed.
Check your charging system. With the engine running at about 2000 rpm, a volt meter across the battery terminals should read around 14 to 14.5 volts and drop to about 13.8 volts with the engine at idle. If this does not happen, the charging system may be defective. Even with lights on the voltage should climb, but will drop lower at idle.

If this is the front wheel drive model the dipstick may be very short and right on the side of the tranny.

You are a OBD 1 just disconnect the battery, but because you are a cadillac it will just detect the problem it will look for shorts open and ground so you have a problem do a code reading on you vehicle you will jump wire connection at the diagnostic area and read the blinking light, there just fix the problem plus with the cost of fuel it pays to repair itself

If you do not have this capability an auto parts like Autozone can check them for you. To the best of my knowledge they do not charge for this service.
