My 1995 grand cherokee takes a lot to start. turns over fine, but won't fire. checked fuel rail, no pressure. after trying 15 times or so, it will start and run just fine. starts right back up unl

Your Jeep has what's known as the delayed start, no check engine light problem. The Jeep will not start until the check engine light comes on, on the dashboard. Next time it cranks but will not start, look at the dashboard to see if the check engine light is illuminated. If it's not lit up, then your Jeep does have that problem and your Jeep ecu is in need of repair or replacement. There are components inside the ecu that are going bad and will continue to get worse, eventually leading to a permanent no start condition. There are ecu repair services and replacement ecus on ebay.

I guess it's an automatic transmission.??? this is a ZJ jeep, the book on it (real) is free. (3 years rust inside?)can you turn engine by hand(using a wrench on that large pulley bolt)>?? starter bolts tight, (it needs a ground so mount must be tight) every way and test is here. http://jeepdied.com/no-crank.html chapter 8w in link 1 ABOVE COVERS THIS. marked WIRING. page. 8w-21 page2, is a bingo remove starter relay out, bonce on table 1 time. put back, (kind of a relay reset,) when cranking do you have 10-12v at "A":and same at "B" if A is dead, we check the coil on relay next for power cranking. 26196782-j2x2plzphuxscxtkjfxpjzgx-2-0.jpgif the Relay coil D11 has 12vdc cranked then fuse is good.if not f20 is blownif stick shift car, the clutch switch bad. lacking 12v here.if have 12v at D11 pinthen the Park neutral pin D13 is failing and seen at 12vdc cranked.that is all there is, (using a volt meter)or learn to hot wire starters, and save all that work.covered on link 2.working with no voltmeter, will be very very hard, got one?what if the barn car , was parked 3 years agowith a bad head gasket (water leaking), and now some cylinders are seized from water/rust damage.I'd put oil in each cylinder, sparks out.1 teaspoon and turn it by hand first.this lowers chances of ring damage. this method.

While driving my jeep seems to be shifting gears the rpms rev up and then goes back down almost as if surging I changed speed sensor as a guess so far but did not work?

old 1995 we need vastly more symptoms then that, sorry if the engine surges, that is first. (surges in 1 gear) but if a transmission down shifts that is normal, rpm rises (after all its a lower gear) (higher numeric ratio) find any machanic in town ask him test drive it.! 10 min.later he wilt tell you its trans issues. or its engine, super easy this is driving. seems you can not, and learning is 1hour in car class..or 10x that lacking facts of drive train functions. stop guessing. why spend cash on a useless sensor now. spend cash on $1 shop diagnosis and WIN. i promise ! or get it scanned. and post all those DTC errors. P0700? and more.

The jeep always acts like its in gear

They locking nut has come loose on the shift control arm on the side of the transmission, you need to put it in park and adjust it so the arm is all the way forward and the shift lever is all the way into the Park position, this should get rid of the car moving when the shifter lever is not in reverse.

My engine overheat when A/C is running on a slow moving traffic or on parking.

I would check and see how much air is actually moving thru the radiator. The fan may not be running fast enough or you may have debris blocking the air flow. Also make sure the system is full of coolant and no air pockets.

My 1995 jeep grand cherokee's speedometer only works sometimes. What is, or what could be the problem?

do not read posts of persons guessing, (using wrong books and years) my answer now is 1995 WJ, USA version not export. so.... The below is USA WJ facts, not guess, not generalities. but is the odometer working.???????????? did you: check fuses first? (has 2) my guess they are good, as other parts work.in the VIC. did you scan it yet? (or do the flash codes , diagnostic) how it works is covered in the FSM, read how in the book. the book is free. JEEP WJ chapter 8e page 11 on. and in wiring. http://www.jeep4x4center.com/knowledge-base/index.htm?utm_source=cj#service to diagnose something or fix it takes knowing how it works. guessing is folly here. the speedo on this car works off the CCD network, in said car. (all 100% computer tech) and the VIC self tests. run those yet>? its easy just read that same 8E chapter. and see flow chart there, for VIC. Vehicle Info center.... VIC> there is no speedo cable, its not some 1988 cherokee from AMC. sorry ! see the photo below, note NO CABLES on GC. to the VIC,. so does the odometer works if you scan the PCM does the PCM DUMPS out VSS errors.!@!! its all 100% computers and sensors now. 1993 up. GC was early in this era, for that.fact. The PCM sees SPEED< and then sends DATA to the VIC via the CCD network, so if DATA is missing?, both the speed and miles fail(odometer) easy huh? the below has computer, and talks on this network. scan the pcm. first, (after fuses) there is other issues here, the VIC is married to the PCM. (due to odometer laws here in USA) so that can be a pain, on all cars. made here. Below is VIC rear. the center conn. is power and DATA. 25722215-50dtgs4ogurzwlsfgjpff5yl-2-0.jpg this is the VIC schematic, all information is transmitted with DATA. 25722215-50dtgs4ogurzwlsfgjpff5yl-2-1.jpg the VIC has a computer inside, a micro processor. and a network chip. c1 and c2 twisted pair, Called CCD. it works not unlike your PC computer monitor, see? data in, >process ?>data to gauges. and lamps.

Engine stumbles only in no load circumstances. Idles smoothly, and stumbles only in no

no miles stated, 400k miles> or 100 = 100k? if any 95 has 100k miles that be like a new car. no ? 5k /year, wow... trouble is i cant drive car. and see this effect. the issue is acceleration, right? :called Hesitations ! and only happens on a hot engine , yes? and never happens wide open throttle.? correct? HAPPENS: only when tipping in the throttle at cruise. (then self corrects ) THE TPS sensors does that. The TPS is a demand sensor. it sees driver DEMAND acceleration, and this is detected and the PCM goes to ENRICH mode. this is done or the engine goes LEAN until the MAP BARO READINGS, catch up and correct fueling. that is my wild useless guess. (not driven and me not scanning the PCM while it fails.) The TPS is a rate of change sensor. This is because all air meters made are slow. The TPS hides this fact. until bad. there are other causes, but im not there with my scan tool.. and (box of gauges)
