I put the battery backward

The reverse polarity should have blown at least 1 fuse to prevent further electrical problems, I would start by looking there, replacing blown fuses and then trying to restart.

1985 Honda prelude carbed. The

From what you have described either the replacement alternator or regulator are faulty.all 1985 model here have the reg built into the alternator.Put a voltmeter across the battery terminals while running.volts should be 14 to 14.8 if it is being charged correctly,12.8-13.9 if it is poorly charging and less if it is only running on the battery.I assume that the fanbelt is tight and not slipping. There are several other reasons that can cause this fault but establish the basics first.Make sure that the main feed wire from the alternator to the battery is fitted onto clean terminal and isnt broken internally. To test this you can carefully check volts at the alternator terminal end,be careful not to arc out on anything metal while doing this.you may blow the charging fuse(check this anyway as part of test).the volts should be the same as reading from the battery. If it is lower, twist the wire about while reading and see if it changes. It will either need replacing if faulty or try new terminal ends first.Make sure that the replacement alt has the same plug configuration as the one you removed.Honda have a few different plugs that switch the trigger wire around(whether round or rectangular)Hope this helps you.if not get back with your test results and we can work together on this

Check your owners manual since many manuals include fuse diagrams. Also auto parts stores offer free assistance with repairs and are likely to have diagrams.

Abs light on dash lit

Before doing anything, check the brake fluid level. When the ABS indicator light comes on, an error has been detected in the antilock brake system and you need a scan to find out what is causing it.
Most parts stores provides the scanning service either free or for a nominal fee. The code would be stored so need to retrieve it to know what component is causing it. Get the scan done and let us know the exact trouble codes so we can provide you with the information for the error.

The speedometer and odometer on

It may be the cable but its hard to say because i dont know the year, make and model of this car, newwer cars use a speed sensor and not a cable so i would start by checking the speedo cable or the speed sensor on the trany, good luck.

Switch on the drivers side

You need to replace that switch. It happens every now and then to some Hondas. I've seen a few at work. The switch is most likely broken internally. There is no repair for the inside of these switches. Maybe try the wreckers for a used part? The door panel is fairly easy to remove.

Where are the timing marks

  • Disconnect the negative battery cable and lay it to the side, ensuring that it does not touch metal. Jack the Prelude up and support it with jack stands. Remove the left front wheel using the lug wrench. Remove the lower splash guard using the appropriate socket.
  • Place the block of wood on the floor jack, then push the jack under the engine. Jack it up enough to contact the oil pan, to support the engine. Remove the accessory drive belts by loosening the accessory drive belt tensioner to relive tension on the belts. Lift the belts off the pulleys. Remove the left engine mount using the appropriate socket.
  • Unbolt the speed control actuator, but leave the control cable connected. Lay it
  • out of the way. Remove the alternator wiring from the valve cover by lifting it out of its wire loom. Unbolt the valve cover and carefully lift it off. If the rubber gasket looks dry, rotten or has cracks in it, replace it. Remove the upper timing belt cover using the appropriate sockets.
  • Remove the power steering pump, but do not disconnect the power steering high- and low-pressure hoses. Lay the pump out of the way. Work the dipstick back and forth to pull it out of the hole. Lay it aside.
  • Number the spark plug wires so you know where they go when you put the Prelude back together. Pull the wires off the plugs. Remove the plugs using the spark plug socket. Stick the long screwdriver in the No. 1 cylinder spark plug hole--the hole closest to the timing belt. Turn the engine crankshaft counterclockwise until you feel the piston push the screwdriver up to the top of the piston bore. The screwdriver will stop moving when it is at the top. Check the timing marks on the flywheel. The pointer located in the hole should line up with the hash mark on the flywheel. If not, turn the engine over once again until the piston is at the top of the bore, and the marks will line up.

    My blower worked day before

Switch on the blower motor and bang on it, if it starts then you might need a new motor. If it dosent then make sure you have power at the motor plug in wire, if you have power then its a bad ground.
