so gue$$ stinks sure.... why do that.? all it takes is a scan tool to find this. first you need to learn ASD relay rules. to start a jeep 1993 to NOW. the ASD most close, cranking,does it? and most stay closed cranking and NOT drop out in 3 seconds. that means crank for 5 seconds and if the ASD drops. at 3.? easy huh? if it did DROP i can tell you the ECU will set DTC errors you failed to see because you did not scan it during those 5 seconds. http://www.fixkick.com/Jeeps/ASD.html first is fuses. lets make a list. works on all jeeps 93+

1. battery changed. to 12.6vdc reseted.
2. keyon, CEL lamp glows, if not fuse blown to PCM (ECU)
3. engine cranks fast.
4. Asd realy pulls in and holds.
5. scan tool shows, what? BINGO. DTC errors, easy huh?
6. ok no DTC, errors, live for 5 seconds, cranking,so lost spark? must be bad coil or wired wrong. (change it 1 wire at a time?ooops)
7. coil dead, its not DTC caused, so if no DTC that means the PCM did not see Coil ignitor errors. to coil see? i bet its got TDC;s if not then i check the coil inputs. to be sure the PCM ignitor is firing the coil correctly with my scope, oops no scope.
8. if no scope you get to buy a new PCM. Wild guessing bad ignitor.
9. i use a Innova 3140 scan too that does 93-95 jeeps, for about $150 only about 1.5 hrs shop labor value. and is Investment grade tool, it would have saved you 3 parts, guessed already.

first good Cherokee made. 93 the automatic trans.????? power steering? what? well, the cars may have 2 different trans there.which one? the operators guide covers this. for only your car. what is PF? pink Fluid? the transmission has 3 class capacities, all A/T

1. rebuild dry (17 pints USA, 8.5qt
2. just pan drain, (varies by temperature and time)
3. or drained out clutch. and pan and drip dry. (guess 8qt)

we cant guess what you are doing.? not at all. get a full flush and filter in any ASE shop , is best. let them do it. draining out 1/3 is hopeless. think of the A/T as a giant ATF sponge. (Sponge Bob in Pink)? and then ask. fsm: Use only Dexron®IIE/Mercon® Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) on all AW-4 transmissions and ATF Plus 3/Type 7176 on all automatic transmissions except the AW-4 (or their superceding fluid types). to only drain pan do so then put in 2qt(fsm quote) and start it and add as need, per rules hot, on dip stick running. how is that.?

which engine? the fsm covers that, its free to read. old post. ZJ jeep 93 4.0L fsm verbatim, buy a puller, or make one, or use a huge gear puller, at edges of pulley, or use a slam hammer, rad out and grill out. or?

Try putting a timing light on it once you get it to crank and idle. Sounds like the timing is retarded too much. Advancing it should make it run better. Also check that you are getting proper fuel pressure to the engine.

if its not shifting make sure fluids are full (I'm sure you did) im just saying is your speed sensor on trany pluged in , and your throttle return cable from trany to fuel return hooked up

I had the same problem with my '93' Jeep Grand Cherokee. I found that if I keyed my drviers door lock the security system would turn off.

why? no reason,just kicks? vic, ( jeeps name for dah cluster)? veh. info center? vic is upgrade over gdm base. with means unplugged, sure. 93 no vic. if you mean drive car with no cluster? well, why not unplug it ,drive and tell us.?(holding breath)lol the pcm programing on all years is a very complex topic. issues, vss, and odometer sync, got immoblizer, vtss or skim? the fsm is here but mostly they dont cover hacking. (your hacking right?) this says that the cluster shows last odometer , if ccd fails. so implies it runs to me... but?: http://www.jeep4x4center.com/knowledge-base/index.htm?utm_source=cj#service i can only guess at your cars options, so will get all this wrong. but ill look at wring to vic. the cluster 8w-40 chapter is 100% digital in that all data is sent from pcm to cluster via serial bus, ccd paired network so the question is,when the pcm boots, and the cluster is dead how angry will pcm be, answer, is wild guessing, no skim is it runs. and barfs dtc errors, like mad(it will) one way to kill pcm is if that pcm/bcm (some do) can not sync the odometer, so it sees that is hacking (miles total) and shuts you down. some years do, mine does. but all years and all options, dang you stumped me;. as you may not know, added security options cause most jeeps to go to ligher levels of crosschecking and then cuts fuel if hacking is detected.

their is no external fuel filter on this car. their is a screen filter in the tank attached to the fuel pump.

make sure your transmission fluid level not low if fluid level okay. other possible causes for transmission wont shift out of second could have stuck or faulty first and second shift valve.code scan for faulty VSS SPEED SENSOR.

That could be a lot of things. There is an idle control, there is an EGR, there is fuel delivery system issues that could cause this.

ice, the ice has no limits, on effects. what does this mean. doors close down my guess is the latch is jammed, right, in the door jam. the latch, heat it up with a heat gun and lube it when dry. park in doors? a garage? if not possible learn to lube up the parts. so ice can not jam them. or get help from any mechanic. he knows what to do, let him/her.

The fuse box is located under the hood on the pass. side next to the coolant tank. There is also a "relay" box under the lining in the glove box. Also check for an interior fuse box under the drivers side dash next to the L. side of the steering column. 93-98 G Cherokees are all similar. Make sure you have also double checked your ground!!! :)
