Circuit Description The secondary air injection (AIR) system reduces exhaust emissions after initial engine starts. This occurs when the engine start-up coolant temperature and the intake air temperature (IAT) are at the parameters indicated in Conditions for Running. The AIR pump will continue to operate until Closed Loop operation is achieved. The powertrain control module (PCM) activates the AIR system by simultaneously supplying a ground to the AIR pump relay and the AIR solenoid relay. The AIR pump forces pressurized fresh air into the pipes/hoses and past the AIR check valve into the bank 1 exhaust manifold, accelerating the catalyst operation. When the AIR system is inactive, the AIR shut-off valve prevents airflow in either direction. The PCM can detect an AIR system airflow fault by monitoring the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) bank 1 sensor 1 during normal Closed Loop engine operation. This is an active test. The active test will pass or fail based on the response from the HO2S 1. The active test consists of three tests run at 3-second intervals. A decreasing HO2S 1 voltage parameter response indicates that the AIR system is functioning properly. The AIR system consists of the following components: • The AIR pump • The AIR pump relay • The AIR injection electronic shut-off valve • The AIR injection solenoid relay • The fuses, and the related wiring • The pipes/hoses When the PCM detects an insufficient HO2S 1 response, DTC P0410 sets. Had battery replaced on 2005 DTS and afterward the radio/NAV/On-Star would not work.(Totally dead) The dealer who installed could not locate problem. (No GM dealer in Amador County, CA). I read several forums citing this/similar problems. I checked the three fuses labelled "radio, audio, NAV" by pulling, checking and reinstalling (all three were good). When I then restarted the car, everything was once again working! Poor connection? Corroded contacts? Some mysterious computer glitch? Who knows?

Is there a loose wire on those speakers? If not they could be played out.

Sounds like someone may have water accumulated in their brake fluid! Start with a PROFFESSIONAL BRAKE FLUID FLUSH from Cadillac! Good luck Frank M

Turn Signal/Hazard Flasher Module Left front of the passenger compartment, behind the left hand knee bolster

Your vehicle has a turn signal/hazard flasher module. Remove the left knee bolster. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console. Remove the turn/hazard flasher module (1). Disconnect the electrical connector.

Alternator is probly failn.....chec for clean connections. Computer may have issues but thats last resort

I think Gm may have issued a Technical Service Bulletin fix for this problem. Check with a dealer service center.

check your fuel pressure first, make sure you have a fuel pump problem before you replace it, if it does need replacing you will need to pull the fuel tank it is in the tank

use a scan tool to reset the ECM and the immobilizer make sure that all the wiring harness connections are properly connected

You must firs diagnose the failure, fuel or ignition.. Try starting on test fuel sprayed in any unmetered vacuum nipple... ... Philip

I can think of a few thing's that could cause this , a mass air flow sensor, crankshaft position sensor , coolant temp sensor. If the check engine light comes on there should be a DTC - diagnostic trouble code stored in the PCM - engine computer ! I'd find a parts that will check for codes an go from there . unless you have a factory scan tool that will check engine data parameters ! Hard Start Inspection/Test Action DEFINITION: Engine cranks OK, but does not start for a long time. Does eventually run, or may start but immediately dies. Preliminary • Refer to Important Preliminary Checks Before Starting in Symptoms - Engine Controls . • Search for bulletins. Sensor/System • Inspect the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor for being shifted in value. Install the scan tool and compare the displayed engine coolant temperature with the intake air temperature on a cold engine. Check the resistance of the ECT sensor if the engine coolant temperature is not within ±3°C (5°F) of intake air temperature (IAT). Refer to Temperature Versus Resistance . If the ECT sensor resistance is not within the specification, refer to DTC P0117 or DTC P0118 . • Inspect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor and connections. • Inspect the operation of the idle air control (IAC) valve. Refer to Idle Air Control (IAC) System Diagnosis • Using the scan tool, monitor the throttle position (TP) sensor voltage. The TP sensor voltage should be less than 0.9 volts with a closed throttle. If the TP sensor voltage is more than 0.9 volts, inspect the throttle body and accelerator cables for binding. • Inspect for the proper operation of the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system. Refer to Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) System Description Fuel System • Inspect the operation of the fuel pump. The pump should turn ON for approximately 2 seconds when the ignition is turned ON. Refer to Fuel Pump Electrical Circuit Diagnosis • Inspect for incorrect fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel System Diagnosis . • Inspect the fuel injectors and related fuses. Refer to Fuel Injector Solenoid Coil Test , and Fuel Injector Balance Test with Tech 2 or Fuel Injector Balance Test with Special Tool . • Test for fuel contamination. Refer to Alcohol/Contaminants-in-Fuel Diagnosis . Ignition System • Inspect the operation of crankshaft position (CKP) sensors A and B. • Test for proper ignition voltage output using the J 26792 Spark Tester . • Inspect for damaged ignition coils within the ignition coil module assemblies. • Inspect for damaged or misaligned spark plug boots. • Inspect for a missing or damaged ignition module ground spring. • Inspect the spark plugs. Refer to Spark Plug Inspection . Engine Mechanical • Excessive oil in combustion chamber-leaking valve seals. Refer to Oil Consumption Diagnosis in Engine Mechanical 4.6L. • Inspect for low cylinder compression. Refer to Engine Compression Test in Engine Mechanical 4.6L. • Inspect the following for incorrect or damaged basic engine parts: - Cylinder heads - Camshaft and valve train components - Pistons, and piston assemblies

That test light method is not a true indication of what the issue is. You need to use an amp meter in the same manner but it has to be able to read at least 10 amps. Keep in mind that if you have the door open on the car that it draws a lot of current.
