2004 Cadillac CTS - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

Your transmission is bad. You need to replace it soon if you are still driving it. At any moment you may lose forward and only have reverse (trust me it happened to me and I was dumb enough to drive it seven blocks back home in reverse).

Hello. It seems the starter itself is wore out. The solenoid powers the motor but is not 'kicking out' the pinion gear to engage the flywheel; not like it should anyway. The 'whirring' sound is the starter; the 'grinding' sound are the starter and flywheel teeth not 'meshing' right. Remove and replace the starter. Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.

The main fuse box for your CTS is located under the hood. These cars are silly....what happened to Cadillac.....jeez....it's a damn shame....all the cts's are just **** it seems....I think all of them are here in the forums being diagnosed....cause dealerships are crooks....the world needs a *******....I think it's getting one too....lol

There no starter fuse for the starter itself but there fuses for the ignition normaly with a tester oe side to ground any metal part of the car the other end check each side of the fuses

If you want to damage the aluminium pistons, head and other parts, the air inlet box is a good place to start.

I will quess that there is a 90% chance, you will have topull the transaxle & have it rebuiltFrom here forward, you change your trans fluids every three years ,along with the power steering.That will fail next.

These are not trouble codes. They are addresses of multiple ECU control modules that the scanner found. You can navigate each one, subject to what it reports. Any actual trouble codes would be stored within each module separately if there are any.

The traction control light in these years is usually a bad wheel speed sensor built into the wheel bearing. Cost around $600. The audio may be as simple as entering the unlock code. The deceleration could be a hundred different things so you'll have to pay to get that diagnosed.

STARTING DISABLED REMOVE KEY Refer to Theft Systems Description and Operation in Theft Deterrent STARTING DISABLED REMOVE KEY The radio illuminates the STARTING DISABLED REMOVE KEY message when the VTD system has disabled the starting system. The radio receives a message from the theft deterrent control module via the serial data circuit requesting illumination. Your best bet ,take it to Cadillac dealer and have it checked . Could have DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes DTC B1015 DTC B1016 DTC B3031 DTC B3055 DTC B3060 DTC B3090 DTC B3935 DTC B3976 DTC P1629 DTC P1630 DTC P1631 The theft deterrent module or the insturment cluster or the ECM is not seeing correct info. The vehicle theft deterrent (VTD) system functions are provided by the theft deterrent control module. When an ignition key is inserted into the ignition lock cylinder and the ignition is switched ON, the transponder embedded in the head of the key is energized by the exciter coils surrounding the ignition lock cylinder. The energized transponder transmits a signal that contains its unique value, which is received by the theft deterrent control module. The theft deterrent control module then compares this value to a value stored in memory, learned key code. If the value is correct the theft deterrent control module sends a random generated number to the transponder, this is called a challenge. Both the transponder and the theft deterrent control module perform a calculation on the challenge, if the calculations match the theft deterrent control module sends the fuel continue password via the serial data circuit to the Engine control module (ECM). If either the transponders unique value or the calculation to the challenge is incorrect the theft deterrent control module will send the fuel disable password to the ECM via the serial data circuit. The components of the VTD system are as follows: • Theft deterrent control module • Engine control module (ECM) • Ignition key (Transponder) • Ignition lock cylinder • Security indicator

Hey Gary, take your car and get the transmission fluid and filter changed immediately... you will be glad you did...(expensive lessons speaking!!!)
