1996 Eldorado Emission Light comes on
Depends on what valve they are talking about. The Eldorado is a hard car to get to things. The emmitions control valve is the most probable cause of the light. You should be able to see this on top of the motor it has a tube going to it from the exhaust. You will need a new valve, gasket, and some basic hand tools.
Heater blower motor on 1996 cadillac eldorado
very tight but you can clear the engine just moving some spark plug wires and the vacuum controls (controlled units?) right in front of it. when you get the bolts off the blower fan housing and its free to move you just have to rotate it so the flat part can clear the rear valve cover. do yourself a favor and be sure to isolate the problem to the motor (and not the electrical connections or the computer disabling it for something rediculous like lack of a/c charge) as it's an expensive part for a little motor and worse (around 250 i think) if you need end up replacing the entire fan.
ABS light is on
there is a branch of the engine wiring harness that splits off and plugs in to that pump assembly. the pins on that are rusted. they are thick (maybe 20 gauge stiff wires? - the thing looks like a giant video game controller with a screw on it)
you may be able use a wire brush f that is in fact the why your abs light is on. but rust is just the symptom.. if you can get that working, make sure you weather proof the seal so it doesn't happen again
but the way life works, you are probably going to end up going to a junk yard and stealing (buying?) that end off of another eldo. if you can, call a few junk yards and make sure the one you take is from a 96. i don't believe that that abs module connection changed but caddys are horrible and the company likes to change the wire colors between model years for some parts. then you can splice them together and with a little trial and error you should be able to get it going. (some of the wires within some of the cables are the same colors.. i think i ran in to it twice between the 4 or 5 larger cables that mostly make up the snake)
oh and if thats the route you take, make sure you keep the cable as close to the same length as possible. it has a very awkward bend in it that JUST keeps it from getting chewed up by the smaller radiator fan. hope the wire brush works :)
oh wow just realized you posted this about 4 months ago. hope you didn't need abs this winter :)
ANTI THEFT BYPASS RESISTER
yes method still works for my car. also a lock smith in your area can also do this for you. Its much more less expensive than replacing the ignition cylinder.
My 96 Cadillac Eldo keeps overheating
Hello, look on the left (driver side) front of the engine, you will see at the end of the closest to you, on the cylinder head, a pulley. This pulley runs your water pump, by a belt connection. Check and see if that belt is on.
If you are adding water, you should have it pressure tested, as it could be the water pump(which takes a special tool to replace) or a bad head gasket.
The power antenna on my
Hello, you need a new mast installed in your antenna, or a new whole unit.
If you open the trunk and on the right side by the ant. pull the mat down a little. You should now see the ant. About halfway up you will see some wires. If you disconnect either one of them your ant will quit running. The are plugged into the relay, so is is best to unplug the car harness side, if possible, but it does not matter which you do.
Cant get caliper to calapse
Open Bleeder screw. If talking about rear caliper, piston must be turned clockwise, with brake "Cube" to retract.
96 eldorado
thanks for that... but to confirm weather it is the ignition coil or the dynamo one has to take a closer look at the engines... so i request u to take it to a mechanic... but also what solution are u expecting from us...
Bank 1 Sensor 1 Location
Tightened the gas cap. Emisions testing left it slightly loose setting off the sensor warnings. Even if it doesn't "look" like it is ose take it off and put it back on tight. If the warnings are still flashing then it prob is the sensor. Caddy's are very touchy about their gas caps!
How do I fix codes 51 and 52 on a 1984 Eldorado Biarritz?
Those are mem-cal codes, unless you changed the ECM the PROM (a separate part inside the ECM) has gone bad or the ECM itself went bad, if you just replaced your ECM with a used one you need to swap PROMS just remove the 2 screws and remove the plate then the PROMS. If this doesn't workYour best avenue is to remove the ECM then go to a parts store that sell Standard Motor Products they have an R+R program and will repair your ECM and PROM and send it back. I hope this helps. Take Care.
