The triangle with the exclamation mark inside, and the circular arrow around it, is the warning indicator symbol for the Electronic Stability Program (ESP). It should illuminate when you turn the key and extinguish after about 2 seconds after starting. Some like this...

The ESP as well as the ABS system are intertwined. ESP uses the ABS to correct various safety/handling concerns by applying or releasing pressure to any particular wheel or wheels to help stabilize the vehicle. It can also, override throttle input if it is appropriate. An example would be if you had to swerve hard to avoid a collision at high speed. If the car were to begin to slide, be it understeer (front) or overseer (rear) the ESP would adjust throttle and wheel speeds to stabilize the vehicle. Quite amazing actually. Also, if you accelerate too quickly on ice it will adjust wheel speeds and the light will flash. This indicates the system is in "control mode".

As with ABS, it is supplemental and only comes into play when it is needed. If the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Light) is illuminated consider the system inoperative. The ESP controller must be scanned with a factory capable scanner for the Trouble Code Fault to determine the cause of the MIL illumination and testing of the effected component/circuit.

When you start the engine, if the light remains illuminated after starting, you can try to reactivate the system by shutting the vehicle off, and then restarting it. Also, there should be a ESP switch on your center console that turns the system off and on. Possibly you pressed this switch by mistake? The system can be shut off for special reasons explained in your owners manual under "Electronic Stability Program".

Hope that this help to solve it.

Hi!

The torque converter Clutch solenoid is responsible to hold the pressure when you put your foot on the brakes and that's why automatic transmission don't let the car stall at a stop sign. So you might check the transmission oil for the proper level and hopefully you wont need to change the torque converter clutch Solenoid. Good luck

it is VERY unlikely that a seven year old car would need that much done to it, unless it had 200,000 or more miles on it. New oil should be the color of honey, not dark brown. That's the easy check.

There is an outstanding chance that the factory used a different method to set the timing during assembly and they can compensate for mis set gears and pulleys. When you had yours serviced it would be done differently and therefore not knowing the cam or crank was out of time with the marks would result in a mis-timing event.
Timing a cam and a crank by hand is not easy. What your mechanic experienced was unusual but not out of consideration.
Normally the cam is marked and the head is marked and you line up the marks before you take the belt off by turning the crank with a large socket wrench. THen you take the cam and the crank andd you lock them down with clamps and take the belt off. You then put the new belt on, take the clamps off and everything is fine. IF the belt was removed before the crank was set at TDC then the cam and the crank can be moved by hand but this is touchy. IF the cam and the crank are out of alignment from a gear perspective then you are really looking at a problem. The cam has to be timed so that the proper degree of rotation is being applied to get the lobes set to open the intake valve and the crank has to be set to ATDC. You can compensate on some of the older cars with ingnition timing but with the new electronic ones it is very hard to do.
