Heater blower does not work
I have just had this problem with mine, first take out your glovebox as it is behind there and then remove the passenger air bag brackets you can't get it out without removing them and then take out the 4 or 5 screws that hold in the fan.Test the fan with the main battery and see if it works, if not it is more likely the brushes and very cheap to replace, they are soldiered in, a new fan is expensive it ranges from 30 pound to 200 pound, if the fan works then it is the regulator that is the red switch just to the right of the fan, and that costs about 20 pound to replace and is straight forward,,,if your car has air con, make sure if you go for a replacement fan is the one for air con.All in all it is about an hour to fix.

1998 Audi Cabriolet will not crank
There is usually a fusable link in your positve battery cable. Use a test light to see if you have power at your starter. If you do, and it still won't do anything, it might not be all the way in park, the starter solenoid may be faulty, or the starter could be jammed in the ring gear. If you don't have power there, replace the pos. cable.

Unable to start car, maybe due to demobiliser???
HelloThe engine
and automatic transmission in this vehicles drive train
are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM and
TCM (Power Train Control Module, Transmission Control Module). When a
problem like this or other drive-ability related problems occurs the
computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some
exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature
sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in
its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems
memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read
you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and
resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL
A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPENDING YOUR
HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM

Headlights don't work why?
Test the headlight switch as follows.
Move your car to a dark area, such as waiting until night or moving to a dark garage, to test your headlight switch.2Turn on your car, so you can see your dashboard lights. Note whether some of your dashboard lights fail to illuminate.Turn on your car's headlights. Note whether your car's headlights illuminate.4Press the high beam lever to activate your high beams. Note whether your high beams activate.5Put your car in "Park." Move to the back of the car. Note whether your parking lights are illuminated.6View any remaining driving lights, such as lights above the license plate. Note whether these lights come on.If more than one set of lights does not activate when you turn on the lights, you may need to replace your headlight switch. If only one set of lights does not turn on, try replacing the lightbulbs in that set and then retesting your car. If the lights still do not illuminate, you may need to replace your headlight switch.

Fuse box diagram
Wasn't sure of your engine or if you had the A4 quattro. Below is the fuse panel diagram for a 1998 A4 Sedan with a 2.8 liter V-6. I hope that this is your model and engine. There are a couple of other places with fuses but not many as well as some relays that I didn't list. If you have a different model or engine just reply/comment here or you can email me at
[email protected] with your correct information. Hope this is what you needed.

Door panel
Here's how:
First, take out the two screws at the top of the door panel, screwed into the top corners and pointing toward the middle of the door panel.
Second, inside the door pull (where you pull the door shut) is one screw pointed backward - remove that. Then force the inside "lining" of that pull downward and remove it.
Third, remove the screws you have just uncovered (two on the front door, one on the rear door).
That's it - just lift the panel upward and it'll be off.
