How do you change the
They make extractors that you could try and use to remove it you have to drill a little hole and then insert the removal tool, but they make different kinds. Worse case would be have to remove the head and hope that there is enough bolt left to get vise grips or something else clamped on tight enough to remove the bolt. Or the bolt will have to be drilled out and the hole re-tapped. This last step should not be attempted by a novice, but can be done successfully.

Could the ignition switch of an Audi A4 97 be
If you have a large bunch of keys and they hang from your ignition key, the lock is going to wear very quickly, the tumblers in the lock loose their profile and length and the lock either does not recognise the key anymore or you will be able to operate it with a pocket knife etc. Your ignition key should never have more that about another two keys and possibly a very light fob attached to it or the vibration and bouncing of normal driving will damage the lock. This is inconvenient because it often means that you will need two bunches of keys, but those are the facts.

Could an ignition switch be subject to wear and
Hello and welcome to FixYa!
Yes the ignition switch is a wear and tear thing. If it's burnt there tends to be no current to the plugs. If that's the case then the ignition switch must be replaced.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

I have a 1997 AUDI a4 2.6L which needs a new
2.6 l engine is similar in dimensions and using the same transmission as the 2.8 l so you can swap it directly - no modifications. The transmission is a ZF 5HP19 model.
The only local source (no importing) from which you can buy an good one is a scrapyard - you will need to go thru all of them.

I put a new head
Since you just installed the head unit, this should be easy-popping is almost always a ground issue, so look there first and if possible, you can ground it to the negative battery post for the best possible ground signal. If that is impractical, make the ground as short as possible-you should be using good wire and connections need to be clean and tight.
