It sounds to me like your petrol pump (fuel pump) is going out.

What engine? Sensor is held in place by 10mm wrench size hex bold, on driver side of engine, near engine/transmission flange.

It could be the knock sensor

Hi John: I'd suggest that considering the age of the vehicle it would be appropriate to bring it to a transmission shop for servicing.

You can reset the computer by taking the negative cable off the battery for 30 seconds, then replacing it. But, you cannot change the timing of the car, as it is set by the computer automatically.

i have seen this many times on VW passats which are on the same platform. You may need a new abs control unit. if the abs control unit cannot be scanned by a computer, check all fuses. if abs contol unit is needed, there is aftermarket places that can rebuild them, i recommend factory unit.

Probably bad coil or ignition module.

Oil? Coolant? Fuel?

Just go to an aftermarket supplier like FCP Euro and buy the correct part...

First thought: you are low on tranny fluid. There is no dip stick. Only way is: a) cool car (tranny fluid cold) b) take drain plug out c) get fluid hand pump (Autozone) d) feed fill tube into drain hole e) pump tranny fluid (check for your car) in until it starts running out. Officially, tranny fluid should be 43 deg C as shown with VAGcom diagnostic. But I have good results with just room temp car (just not more). As always: best to find someone with VAGcom (VCDS) and have him run a full diagnostic scan. It will tell you more regarding your problem.

Known problem with gearbox control units. High failure rate. Gearbox lights flahing. May not select reverse gear. Take to dealer as may get some goodwill on this.
