The likely cause is a bad compressor clutch, but there are other possible causes. The first thing to do is to observe the compressor with the engine running. The clutch is inside the pulley. When the a/c is off, the pulley turns on thr belt, but the clutch does not turn. When the a/c is turned on, the clutch should lock on the pulley and turn with it. Run this test and post the result here.
I believe that model has the voltage regulator in the computer itself. replace the computer or put a old style voltage regulator in the wire harness to the alternator .
You need to do an OBD2 engine control module fault code test to see if the fault is recorded in the memory of the computer control module. Autozone and others do this testing for free.
Even though it may work sometimes, I'm not big fan of disconnecting the battery. It can cause more problems?
Make sure battery has a full charge and connections all good. Check your charging system.
If a relay in fuse box is clicking, put your hand on relays one at a time, fell for the vibration, when you find the relay, hopefully, the fuse box cover or your owners manual will ID the relay. then go from there. Let us know what the relay controls?
The most economical fix would be a salvage yard replacement. The glass is glued to the frame with urethane and is quite tough to separate. I would think you can purchase the whole assembly at a salvage yard for what you would pay for just the frame new.
If you have a sunroof the hose that allows the gland around the glass window to drain has plugged. Also reported is the rubber hose connection to the drain in the roof gland has also relaxed allowing the water to leak from the connection. This is an easy repair and several videos are available to DIY. If the car sits outside near trees, or has been baking in the sun are the most likely cause .
Hope this helps?
