1992 Plymouth Voyager stops charging when engine warms up

unfortunately the alternator is only a part of the charging system and it should be tested by an auto electrician not a parts shop replace the alternator and then take the vehicle to an accredited auto electrician for a charging system check charge rate should be 14.5-14.8 volts DC at around 1500rpm they can check the alternator out put , voltage regulator or if the regulator is part of the ECM they will be able to test that as well especially when the system is hot as that is when the problem occurs

1992 PLYMOUTH GRANVOYAGER

Hello, and thank you for choosing fixya.com. There could be a few reasons why your horn doesn't work. First, check the horn fuse in the fuse box (this should be located under or in the dash on the left or right side of the steering wheel. If the fuse is good, procede to check the horn relay (this could be under the dash or under the hood) check the owners manual, service repair manual, or your local auto parts dealer. If it is found that the relay is good as well, check all the wriring to the horn (usually mounted at the front of the vechicle under the hood. follow the wiring as best as you can checking that the connection are clean and secure. You can test the horn, by diconnecting the wires (if two are available) . With some spare wire, run one wire as a ground from the ground on the battery to the ground on the horn, do the same for the posotive. If the horn sound, it may just be an electrical issue at the back of the fuse box, or the wiring may be damaged and shorting out somewhere.

I hope this information has been helpful to you, and I agian thank you for choosing fixyou.com for helping you solve this matter. Let me know if I can be of more assitance.

1992 Plymouth Grand Voyager won't start, fuel pump runs for about 1/2 second when you turn on the key

The power control module sends signal to the fuel pump relay, it gets it's signal from the pick up coil in the distributor and the crankshaft position sensor. I'm having the same issues with my 94 Jeep Wrangler

There is a noise that sounds like the water pump

well for one replace the radiator cap, thats a closed system and shouldn't be boiling over like that , Now Just so ya know, Grand Voyagers and Caravans are known for blowing head gaskets, and as they leak it turns to steam, and right out the exhaust pipe, so have a compression test done on your motor, to be sure those are ok, the rapid rise and fall in the temp is just the thermostat opening once the desired temp is reached

There are times when my fuel pump won't pump

Get the fuel pressure checked. The pump is actually loosing its pressure.Due to this exact required amount of fuel is not reaching the engine so its not starting.----------- Its always not necessary, that pump is old so it will not work. But can be very much possible that because pump is old its loosing its pressure. So getting the fuel pressure tested will give a confirmation. The fuel pressure can be checked at any local car garage. If the pressure checked out low, then getting fuel pump and filter replaced will help.---------- Also another test procedure you can try is, spray starter fluid on the throttle body and see if car starts and runs fine with starter fluid sprayed. Then it indicates fuel pump is faulty.--- Do this test when you face this no start problem.-------------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

I have a 1992 Plymouth

When the Check Engine Soon Light comes on , your first instinct is to pull over and check out the situation. This is not necessary. This is the vehicles way of letting you know at its earliest stage that an error has occurred. No need to panic. If you have been driving with that all annoying light on, remember this : Your gas mileage will improve if the necessary repairs are made.
LOOKING FOR CODE INFORMATION GO HERE : DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES

The first thing to do when your "Check Engine Soon" light comes on is to determine the immediate cause. Consider if the vehicle is still performing as usual or if a loss of performance is noticeable. Generally a constant illuminated light without loss of performance points to an emissions related issue( this won't leave you stranded). When the light flashes, this indicates a serious engine failure condition and will require immediate attention. You may wish to take your vehicle to a local shop and have Computer Diagnostics performed. Usually costs under $100.00.

Generally all vehicles from 1996 and up have an OBD II computer. The Major problem when it comes to OBD II is that you can no longer acquire the trouble codes by counting the flashes of the Check Engine light like you could on earlier OBD I vehicles. You can take your car into a local high-tech service shop, where the minimum charge for computer diagnostics and engine diagnostics might cost you somewhere into three digits. Or you may want to learn about OBD II systems. in order to do so you will need an OBD II scan tool. I have already done the research for you and located several different scan tools for you to choose from. If you already have the code and need to know what it means check out our complete list of OBD II Codes Here.

OBD II scan tools connect to the vehicle's computer through a connector under the dash by the steering wheel.

I have replaced the cv shaft twice and it keeps

Try checking the transmission mount. A bad mount causes the transmission to move back and forth too much, causing unnecessary strain on the axle shaft. Also make the shaft is the right length. Too long or too short can also cause the shaft to break.

No charge /alt good/ new computer/ was told at

Hi, No the crank angle sensor is not the problem. Check that there is power to the main battery terminal on the alternator and that there is an ignition supply to the small terminal block attached to the back of the alternator. If these are ok then it maybe the light switching terminal or the battery sensed terminal which is also in the terminal block in the back of the alternator.
Last and not least get the battery checked that it is ok...

Check engine light on, fluids are all fine.. why

A code has been stored to alert you to the fact that something has malfunctioned and should be addressed. On a 92' you should be able to cycle key in ignition to retrieve those/that code. Here's the procedure: Turn ignition key to ON position (not start) then OFF, then ON, then OFF, then ON, and leave on this time. Have a pen and paper ready to write down number of flashes from "check engine" light, which indicates a 2 digit number. It will always be a 2 digit number, with a short pause in between them.. For example: 2 flashes, pause , then 2 more would be code 22. 3 flashes, pause, then 5 more, would be code 35. When you get code 55 which is 5 flashes, pause, then 5 more, that means end of message, or codes. Giving you a link to those codes and what they refer to (scroll down the page) and if you need more help with explanation of what to do about those codes, feel free to get back to me/us, and we will be glad to further assist you. Retrieving and interpreting those codes will point everyone in the right direction rather than wasting time and money and guessing where the problem may be.
If you'd rather just return with those codes for advice on repair, that 's good too. Please reply with engine size as well. Good Luck.
