Need to know how to set the timing belt on A 91
First off I would strongly recommend you purchase a haynes or equivalent service manual. There are 2 indentations on the cam gears. There is an arrow on the oil pump (lower right) sprocket. There is a small dimple indentation on the crank pulley sprocket. The crank pulley dowel pin faces up. Actually, vfaq.com lol
I was driving on the freeway and my 1991 Plymouth
Doesn't seem to have spark?? did you use a tester?? basic needs, spark tester(in line works best) fuel pressure guage, injector signal tester(noid light) and finally compression guage, rad tester optional, check spark and injector signal, the remove spark plugs and note their color, do a compression test, all cylinders should read within 10 percent, lo compression on one or two indicate head gasket, no compression timing belt, have fun
My car wont start
CHECK STARTER RELAY INSIDE VECHICLE ON THE INSIDE OF THE INTERIOR RELAY BOX INSIDE ON PASSENGER COMPARTMENT.ALSO CLUTCH SWITCH IS OUT OF ADJUSTMENT OR NEED REPLACING.
My car started to smoke.I have a 91 plymouth laser
When installing a new timing belt, I always rotate the engine by hand (or rather wrench) before trying to start and recheck the timing marks at least twice to make sure the belt hasn't slipped a notch.
Since the engine with which I am most familiar is an interference type, I am very cautious with it; one tooth off and it won't rev but three teeth off and it results in bent valves.
Cranks but won't start put in new
It may be the crankshaft sensor. Some cars use sensors that "watch" the crankshaft. When you turn over the car the sensor sees the crankshaft moving and tells the computer to send fuel, spark, etc. I am not real keen on your particular car but it sounds like this may be your problem.
Auto battery keep going down
Unhook the power terminal possitive + hook a 12 volt light to it and the battery close all doors and turn off all switches begin removing fuses from the fuse pannel till the light goes out this is your drain.
Timing belt jumped.
You have damaged the Valves so the head will have to be removed and recondtioned at a machine shop or buy a rebuilt at auto supply house, the head will cost $250.. with an exchange head. you will have to replace pushrods for the valves if so equipped, and antifreeze oil and filter lifters as well so figure about $500.00 to $800.00 to do the fix to make it run right, they will punt in a new water pump and a new timing belt tensioner and belt and other things that you will not understand.
Distributor cap firing order
Your firing order is 1-3-4-2 The rotor in the dist cap rotates clockwise, cylinders are numbered 4 at front of engine, 3,2,1 at firewall.
Manifold turns blood red
the timing is out. take it to the garage where the cam belt was replaced and tell them you want it fixing. you should be covered under the sale of goods act. you can also tell them you wont be paying for the work due to rectification of faulty work.
hope this helps.
How to replace timing belt on a 1991 plymouth lazer 2.0 turbo
If the belt has broken, the valves will be bent. This is an interference engine and there is no escaping it, the head will have to come off. It is not an easy job, belt access is poor, and there is a balance belt as well. Unless you have a lot of experience and tools, I would not recommend attempting this at home.
Engine runs rough after about ten minutes /idles really low
Just trowing some suggestions out there, but, I would check the idle air control valve (solenoid) or the throttle position sensor. If they check out then my last guess would be the map sensor or the vaccuum to the map sensor. Hope I was able to help. Best wishes.
