Did you get any codes and did you use the ecm from the old motor?
Could be several things but yes should be able to interchange the two engines.
Where is the fuel pump relay on my 2001 pt cruiser
everyone seems to be answering a different question, the fuel pump relay on a 01 pt cruiser is under the hood, find your positive battery "extension thingie." It will be kind of close to the firewall on the driver side. You'll know what I mean when you see it, just can't remember it's actual name off the top my head. But the plastic box that its connected to is what you need. open it up and you'll find fuses and relays. Standing at the front of the car, you'll see 6 (2 rows of 3) relays on the left side, the fuel pump relay is the middle relay on the row closest to the firewall. A pair of vise grips makes it really easy to pull out.
2001 pt crusier

My pt cruiser inside release latch wont allow hood to close completely
The latch is probably just needing lubrication. In cold weather, try using a small amount of kerosene or diesel fuel (NOT NOT NOT gasoline) on the latch mechanism and drip some on the actuator cable too. Then before you close the hood, "work" the latch and cable several times to spread the lubrication and free up any parts that might have had corrosion on them.
I replaced my PCM in
Depends on what killed it the first time. If the initial problem was caused by a current overload and you didn't fix that, it'll just kill the new PCM. Best bet is to buy a rebuilt PCM with a warranty instead of a used unit from a junkyard

Is the sound from one side/corner of the car, does the car pull to one side when you brake?,does the steering wheel shake while braking?...would narrow things down a bit, maybe a CV shaft is worn out?
2001 Pt Cruiser. Car died, ran on battery, low
have the alternator bench tested for faulty rectifier diode pack
it may be charging the correct voltage but it is AC voltage and not DC voltage
in which case the battery will die quickly
next to check is the voltage regulator
it has to be 4.5-14.8 volts DC and if it in the ECM unit , will require a new ECM to fix
