Fluid leak from the seal between the transmission

would suspect that it is a rear main oil seal in the engine...not good and costly to repair since the engine and transmission need to be seperated for a 10 dollar part. is it oil that is leaking?

I have a 2005 town car just had to replace converter it had a rattle now i have a p0401 code

Check the passages and pipes, etc on the EGR valve for carbon buildup. The valve itself could also be plugged up,or a large chunk of carbon has broken loose and is restricting the flow.I remember the guy in the stall next to mine bringing a friends Town Car in with the same issue, and we cleaned the pipe out by stripping a 4 guage alternator wire's insulation, and chucked it into a drill, fed it into the pipe, and used it to brush out the carbon. It took a while, but it worked!

Insufficeint fuel delivery bucks chugs and backfires

I believe you have a fuel pump failing. It is in the tank and fairly simple to change. The hard part is getting the tank low enough to disconnect the lines and wires without breaking them. It goes back in the way it came maybe even easier. be sure to drain fuel from tank before re-installing. Try changing the fuel filter first before you take the fuel tank from the vehicle just to be sure it is the fuel pump. This may save time and knuckles. Good luck and have fun.

Multiple issues

I doubt the issues are related, but you need to get the computer scanned for trouble codes first. The codes may point you in the right direction to diagnose the problems. It's possible the engine temp sensor is faulty which could cause both problems.

Air filter

Remove the 2 screws (10mm) on top that hold the air intake housing, Pull the air intake away from the air filter housing. You may need to loosen tubing with flathead screwdriver. It's easier to replace the filter if you remove the filter compartment so remove the screw that holds this piece in place. Pull the air filter housing out gently. You may have to work it out since space is compact. Pop the clips, replace the air filter and reverse to re-install.Read more: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you_replace_the_air_filter_in_a_2000_Chrysler_town_and_country#ixzz25R4Kd5Ya
