2001 Mercury Grand Marquis brake and ABS dash lights on and off

The red brake light is the key here. That usually indicateds a hydraulic problem. Check you fluid level in master cylinder and see if it is low. Also the level indicator sensor there in the master cylinder maybe sticking or corrioded. If ABS sees the red brake light it will shut off and turn on the ABS light, also traction control would be disabled as well.

2001 grand marquis, have to slam the gear shift lever into park to turn the car over

Price the repair. Ford does have some Credit programs for car repairs and you might be surprised about the terms. Their own Credit card can be used for oil changes and tires as well as brakes and so forth. Your problem is not only with starting but can result in the car lurching or rolling if not properly repaired.

My car will not idle

There seems to be several issues. Can't say a lot about the gauges not working except that relays power groups of equipment functions and if a relay does not provide power then the gauges can't work. For a fast idle, a sequence called the "cold start sequence" is suppose to increase idle. This is triggered by an engine temperature sensor. Some cars have 2 with one working the dash gauges and the other is used to work the engine controls. Yours is likely either sending a signal that the engine is hot (and it is not) or the signal is missing. When the engine knows it is cold, the idle will speed up until the engine is warm. The dim headlights can be dim from a power drain, or the engine is not idling fast enough to charge.

I have a 2001 mercury grand marquis ls. it overheats when im driving it but don't shows it on the temperature hand ..what is the problem ??

The temperature switch on the side of the upper radiator hose is not working. That is, if the engine is hot. Boiling over - need to check thermostat. Grab on to upper hose (should be hot) than with engine off, grab bottom radiator hose. It also should be same temperature as top. If so, thermostat ok. Electric radiator fan - turn Ac on. Fans should run. No, check fuses & relay. Mechanical fan - with engine off, the blade should be stiff to turn. Easy, replace fan clutch. Usually, low level of water is most common. Wish you well.

My 2001 mercury grand marquis, when stopping at a light breaks went to the floor and the car accelerated which cause an accident.why are these cars loosing breaks and accelerating?

You have not shared what art of the country you live in, but I may be able to guess your answer. All cars as old as yours are subject to brake failure, usually from leaking or rusted components. A good inspection now should show you the rear brakes are bad, and perhaps the brake lines have rusted through. Could also be a rear brake cylinder has failed, leaking out your brake fluid, and causing the brakes to give out when you needed them most. Routine inspection probably would not have caught that, but having your brakes serviced every 7 - 10 years should have prevented it. Lots of people do not do a complete brake service because it can get really expensive, though it would prevent your accident. The acceleration problem is a whole different matter. God bless your efforts.
